First sensible thing you've said tonight :P

:)

Hey, I thought the kiss thing would be funny and rub a little salt in the wounds of the SSM fans and the Nurse army. I didn't think guys would take it so seriously and it quickly derailed the thread. I have nothing against Nurse, although admittedly I didn't want him at the draft. I'm loving the way he's developed and his game has grown considerably since his draft year. He still has some maturing to do which shows in his showboating IMO. In saying that I can't wait to see him up on the big team throwing crushing checks. Maybe he can even the score with Calgary for all the years they had Regehr.

The Otters were a lot better than advertised. The team runs through McDavid, but he wasn't always on the ice. The Greyhound's best forwards didn't come through.

I suppose it doesn't really matter though. McDavid was the draw here, and Nurse was 2nd best for sure. I'm praying we get a partner for Nurse so we can justify starting him in the NHL from day 1. I think he could handle it with a good partner, even someone like Bieksa but that's a different discussion.

I predict that McDavid will go back to scoring goals rather than so many assists. It doesn't seem like the Generals have anyone as good as Nurse to shadow McDavid.

I think Ference plays the right side and could see him being brought in on the 3rd pairing. Something like

?-Fayne
Klefbom-?
Nurse-Ference

I dunno if I see Schultz, Marincin, or Nikitin returning next year. Ideally we add Martin and Green through free agency.

I definitely see Marincin as a trade chip, but I think Schultz stays for now, with some kind of personal statement from Chiarelli that he has to play more 'heavy' if he wants to stay on this team much longer. Schultz could still put it together, and then he could offer something that all those D in that depth chart cannot. It wouldn't surprise me if he were traded though. I prefer that Nurse plays with a true RHD, maybe Fayne, but preferably someone with some more offense to their game.

Hopefully as he gets experience he'll move up and be a steady stay at home guy for a guy like Mike Green, or Justin Schultz.

Given how they're playing I think Brandon is the clear favorite to come out of the west, as much as I hope Drai and co. can pull out a victory (if they beat portland that is).

I'm done with Kiss Gate, was great to see both Nurse and Mcdavid play a great series despite the showboating by Nurse. Hopefully he matures out of it though. The future for the Oil certainly looks promising with the two best players in the series coming our way. Anyone know if Nurse is going to the Barons?

Edit: I won't be replying to any kiss posts from here on out so don't expect a reply. I don't need people calling me a troll for having an opinion. If you enjoy the showboating fine. I don't and thats my opinion you don't need to share it.

I don't know raab. Between the Kiss and the Showboat, you pretty much have the Loveboat.

:naughty:

I remember the large amount of people on this forum that *****ed when we picked Nurse over Nichushkin.

Oilers needed a d-man like Nurse.

And it had nothing to do with MacT meeting Nurse's dad/uncle/aunt/grandpa in the elevator.

Elevator? I thought it was the men's room.

Enough about the kiss blowing incident already. If anyone wants to keep harping on that subject they will be escorted out of this thread with a shiny new infraction for their troubles.

North Bay has Brendan Miller and Marcus McIvor, not to mention Jake Smith, and the East isn't over yet. Although it isn't looking good for them now it could quite easily be two 1-0 wins in a row. North Bay would be the more difficult competition for the Otters me-thinks.

Erie-SSM didn't surprise me at all. I think Erie can handle Oshawa, but North Bay is sick good defensively and that would be a close one.

It was actually Future MacT who in a bout of extreme guilt, time traveled back in from 2025 where he was still the GM of a bottom 5 team. He felt the necessity to change the events of his past.

In disguise as a handsome hobo he was determined to send Present MacT a message at the draft to alter the future. As Present MacT was exiting the urinals, Future MacT whispered to him to choose Nurse of Nichushkin. Of course Present MacT being the dolt Future MacT knew he was, just thought he had an epiphany while exiting the throne room.

This forever changed the events in our timeline so that we may potentially not be a bottom feeder 15+ years from now. Of course it is still unknown whether or not this will have fixed anything.

It's not really surprising people were a bit upset initially that the team took a long term defensive project over a much higher profile power forward Russian winger though.

Would have helped if the GM sold the fanbase on the virtues of the scouting recommendations for the Nurse pick instead of turning to mysticism, but Mactavish was never one for choosing his words carefully as the rest of his short term as GM clearly demonstrated.

Yeah. Coming out and telling the entire league you want to be BOLD and you're impatient means you're going to have 29 other GMs try and pull a fast one on you.

Great game. Both guys looked amazing.

Didn't like the officiating in the series. Seemed lopsided when the series was in Erie.

No way that should have been a major. Should have let the players decide the game not the refs.

Unbelievable series to watch as an Oiler fan. Seriously the most fun I've had watching hockey in a looooooong time.

I agree with you here. Hate such showboating too.
And also wanted to tak Nichushkin or Ristolainen with that pick OR trade it down, because there were like 10 Players with similar value.
Could had traded down 5-10 spots and take Zadorov or Lazar for example.
McDavid crashed the Greyhounds in this series. Everybody who says it has absolutely nothing to do with Nurse, although he played a lot of minutes has a questionable opinion imo.
