If you're in NH - I really like Canterbury Woods. The new owners have done a good job.

Least favorite: Ragged Mountain - it's fallen to ****. It was a hard course, a thinkers course. Had to plan shots, random rocks, sand traps, - a tough one. But hasn't been maintained, Ragged is known more for skiing and they've taken a couple of holes and re-purposed them for ****ing snow tubing.

Never played Canterbury. Have played a lot in NH though. Used to play 36 a day at Oak Hill CC when I was a kid. Some recent courses in NH that I've played and enjoyed are Souhegan Woods, and Campbell's Scottish Highlands.

I only played Heather Hill once, but I didn't think it was that bad. Wentworth is a really nice course.

I just found Heather to be dusty fairways with ok greens. The irony is that the Heather Hill owners now own Wentworth Hills and they have been keeping it up really well.

Okay, here's my fav and least fav:

Favorite: Sandy Burr CC, Honorable Mentions: Maple Gate, New England CC
Least: Cyprian Keys, Dishonorable mention: Stowe Acres

My favorite course is Burr mainly because I've never had a bad round there. It's just a fun, long course that isn't too hard, and isn't too easy. It's just a fun course, IMO. Maple Gate is similar to Sandy Burr in the layout and feel. NE CC is a really challenging course, but has all the fun bells and whistles. GPS in the cart, ordering food through the cart and picking up on the turn, etc.

Cyprian Keys is a nice course. The place is beautiful. I'd love to play there again, but won't because the rangers make it the worst place to play. They follow you around and tell you to speed up or slow down, and they make it really unbearable. Stowe gets second, but only because they shove so many people on that course at once that it's like playing on the PGA. You hit, find your ball and stand next to it for 15 minutes while you wait for the group in front of you. And it goes like that for all 18 holes. It's insufferable.

I played some crappy course in Canton like that (Ponkapoag). You swung and all you'd see was a cloud of dust and smoke, and you never saw your ball in flight. You just looked for dust clouds to kick up to see where you landed.

I forgot about that one. I played there and hated it.

A great place to take your kids and get them into Golf is Fore Kicks. They have a 9 hole par 3 course and golf clinics for kids and it is great. My 11 year old daughter is in one right now. She loves it and I have played there with her.

I learned how to golf at Ponkapong. Great course to learn on, terrible course to play on once you can semi play.

Seconded. If you want an easy round, play Green Meadow's Prairie course. If you want to get your ass kicked, play Atkinson CC from the tips.

I used to play green meadow all the time. Boring course but it was short dough back in the day. Atkinson I actually played for free. We were late for our tee time and they sent us out and told us to pay aftter. My friend and I played our round and left but completely forgot to pay...

Was at my peak almost 20 years a go as a late teen... Playing 72-75 regularly. Was playing 60 times a year back then. Now, with work and two child, I play like 5 times a year... Still able to pull 77-82... Short game and consistency is tough when playing this little... Would like to catch up someday and play more.

Most beautifully course I've ever played is at Kananaskis near Calgary. Awesome views and great layout. The course was flooded last year. Don't know how it looks right nw...

Was a member here in Quebec of one of the top-5 golf course in Cap-Rouge. Still great to go back there and the changes they made make it even better. A must play if you come to the city with the Faune and La Tempete.

I would have a hard time picking up between hockey and golf. I think golf would win...

It's a really nice course, but the people who run it are asshats.

Pinecrest in Holliston is that way for me. There were a few days last fall where I could get on, and had no one in front of or behind me.

Is that a shorter course, generally speaking? Par is like 69-70 or something, right? I believe I played that last year.

I think that's right. I remember shooting what I thought was a 5-6 stroke improvement, and then looking and seeing that it was Par 70, not Par 72. It's under new management, not sure what difference if any that has made.

It was a fun course. You could mess up your drive and still reach the green in two on a lot of the holes because it was shorter. Plus some of the holes were drive-able, if that makes sense.

Makes total sense. Definitely enjoyed playing there, enjoyed Glen Ellen in Millis as well. Played Shining Rock last fall (the day the Patriots lost the FG Push game), liked the scenery, but for someone who can't hit a driver, it might as well have been Par 80.

There's a par 3 in Norwood that's perfect to practice your irons on. Not the main course off of Rt. 1, its tucked away in the woods next to an office building. Played there with my dad a few years ago because his shoulder strength sucks, so he tends to get frustrated playing longer course.

Helped my mid game a lot since I didn't hit my driver all day.

Playing Lakeville in an annual tournament in August, need to get out in the next few weeks again prior.

There is one in Mansfield called Willowdale that is an executive course which is great for practicing the ole short game.

That looks like a sweet place to play.

It is amazing, I went there in 2010 to watch the skins game with the following players.
Mike Weir, Retief Goosen, Ian Poulter, Camilo Villegas, and Freddy Couples.

Ian Poulter was a character and of course smooth swinger Freddy was cool as always.

Next year I am really hoping to make it to the U.S. open just out of Seattle at Chambers Bay Golf Club. It should be a blast. Load up the RV with me and a couple buddies, drop the old ladies off at a near by casino for a couple days and watch some great golf.
