Jalen Luypen (named third star) and Vince Loschiavo (PP) both scored but the Hurricanes blew the crowns off the Oil Kings 3-2 in a shootout. Trey Fix-Wolansky, Aiden Kawson (his first WHL point), Connor McDonald and Carter Souch added assists. Dylan Muiskiw (SOL 10-5-2 and named second star) made 29 saves and stopped 3 of 5 in the shootout. Vladimir Alistrov scored but Fix-Wolansky, Brett Kemp, Loschiavo andf Quinn Benjafield all missed in the SO. Shots were 37-31 Edmonton. PP was 1/5, PK 1/1. Edmonton won 41 of 67 faceoffs.

Vladimir Alistrov and Andrei Pavlenko, and their Belearus team, are doing quite well at the 2019 IIHF U20 World Championship – Division I, Group A in Füssen, Germany. The team has won their first 3 games (5-3 over Norway, 6-2 over France and 5-0 over Austria). Alistrov is tied for the tournament points lead with 2-3-5, +1 and 2 PIM. Pavlenko is 0-0-0, +2 and 4 PIM.

I should definitely try getting out to see Matthew Robertson play. Going to school downtown and haven't made it to the new rink yet. Worth picking up some cheap minor league tix to check it out.

They're quite fun actually. Good hockey, some mistakes it being junior, but you can see Fix Wolansky who's a good prospect for Columbus and Robertson who's going first round this year.

The Oil Kings made a couple big moves on WHL trade deadline day today, sending goaltender Boston Bilous to Prince Albert for a conditional pick in 2022, and trading center Brett Kemp to Medicine Hat in exchange for winger Josh Williams. Williams was the 5th overall pick in the 2016 WHL draft and is currently a 'B' ranked prospect for the upcoming NHL draft. He represented Canada at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in August and was recently named to the CHL Top Prospects game.
