The west is set. The Central is nearly set. Chicago has clinched 1st in the Central Division & Western Conference. A 2 point swing between Minnesota and the Wild will be locked into the #2 seed in the central division. With the Blues win over the Predators today, a 2 point swing between the two teams will see the Blues locked into a Central Division berth. The Pacific is far from set officially, but it is looking like the Ducks and Oilers will be the top 2 seeds. The only battle is between the Flames and Sharks for the 3 seed. The Wildcard is the real battle and it's between the Flames and Predators at the moment. A single point separates the two clubs with 3 games remaining.

There are no Western Conference games tomorrow

I think the playoffs in the West are all but official.

(C1) Chicago Blackhawks vs. (W2) Nashville Predators/Calgary Flames
(C2) Minnesota Wild vs. (C3) St. Louis Blues

(P1) Anaheim Ducks/Edmonton Oilers vs. (W1) Nashville Predators/Calgary Flames
(P2) Anaheim Ducks/Edmonton Oilers vs. (P3) San Jose Sharks

We NEED to win in Anaheim and for the Predators to lose to the Islanders on Tuesday. It is a must win game for us and IMO is our only shot at not finishing in the W2 slot as the Preds play a couple bottom feeders in their final 2 games.

What? so if both divisions have one wild card team, and Conference winner and WC2 are from different divisions, they change both wild card teams to another division. I support the current divisional PO format but that's just stupid.

I agree, it's the only thing about the current format I don't like.

Looks like we are most certainly going to play either Chicago or Anaheim, and Anaheim seems more likely to me as I don't think NSH will pass us.

For some reason, I think if there's any year we can finally beat the Ducks at the Honda Centre, it's this year. I'm not saying I'm confident we'd beat them in a best-of-7 series, but I feel we could give them a better run this year then in the past.

I felt that way for a long time this year, but since they acquired Eaves and got a top line again, they're right back to being as scary as they've ever been. I really wanted to play the Ducks at Honda Centre while they were struggling, but of course the schedule didn't allow it.

We were lucky the score was as close as it was last night, Ducks could easily of gotten 2-3 more if not for Elliott.

If we play like that in a playoff series we have little chance of doing well.

That game was a throwback to the Flames in January. But I'm not sure if I can fault them for their effort this time. They just looked **** poor in all facets of the game against the Ducks like they always do.

It amazes me just how badly they dominate us on the faceoff dot, when they're on the PP, when we're on the attack.

Thornton got hurt really badly last night against the Canucks. That really hurts the Sharks who are already missing Couture.

Yes it does, but I don't think there's any chance we play the Sharks in the first round. We're basically locked in to playing the Ducks, Oilers or Hawks in the first round. I think all three are better teams than us.

But of course, this team has pleasantly surprised us a lot down the stretch. Maybe they have a few more tricks up their sleeves yet.

Not sure how realistic it is now but the loss of Thornton (and I say that without knowing the scope of his injury) could result in the Sharks falling behind the Flames for a wildcard spot, especially considering there's one head to head matchup left.

Granted, I don't know if that's a good thing or if it even matters because it looks like we're destined to play one of Edmonton or Anaheim regardless, unless we tank these last three games in which case we're playing Chicago. But like you said, anything can happen.

I meant it from the context of the Oilers first round matchup, not ours.

Since the Sharks play the Canucks again tomorrow night, we essentially have to win out. Our best bet on playing the Oilers is to stay ahead of Nashville and have the Oilers win the division.

I'm also not as scared of Anaheim as everyone else, I think a win in Anaheim in the first 2 games would give this team some swagger, one thing we saw from the Ducks last night even though they outplayed us, is they make alot of mistakes and if we play better than we did last night (which shouldn't be hard) then we'll allow fewer goals and still have the skill to capitalize on their mistakes. They lack forward depth and I'm not sold on their goaltending come the post-season.
