[OFFICIAL] 2017 Magic Number/OOT Game Thread [FLAMES HAVE QUALIFIED]

My brain's too tiny to figure out what our ideal/most realistic playoff matchups would be.

I personally want an Oilers first round matchup. But is it most likely to face them as the #1 wild card with them winning the division or as the #2 & #3's? I see Oilers finishing 1-3 in the Pacific, but flames finishing 2-3 would depend on the Sharks continuing their collapse. I want to keep my cheering for the Oilers to a minimum so help me figure out when to hope for them to win!

edit: ok I figured it out! I want Ducks to finish 1st, Edmonton and us as 2 & 3 (I don't realistically see us leapfrogging the Oilers with our schedule) and Sharks finish #1 WC. We get Edmonton then then Ducks and Sharks can beat each other up all they want. Right...?

Eh. As much as the ****talk is annoying, it's something every fanbase has to deal with. It's also part of what makes the Battle of Alberta so great. Naturally I know a lot of people who support the Oilers so I'm happy that they finally get to experience some form of success.

That said, I still don't want them to make it past the first round one. I'm a nice guy but my team comes first.

When I went to the BoA in Edmonton in January, I heard quite a few fans saying how lame it was for a shootout to have decided that game meanwhile you get HFOilers saying they murdered us in that game

So Preds lose and Sharks lose in Regulation. We get the Sharks tomorrow, this will be a huge game for us. If we win not only do we clinch but we are still in the conversation for a divisional playoff berth, lose and we're looking at a fight with Nashville/St. Louis for the top WC seeding.

I'd like to clinch tomorrow. The more this drags on, the more I fear playing Chicago/Anaheim in the first round or somehow losing 6 straight and missing entirely after Iginla carries the kings to 7 straight wins.

Crazy year. From 9.38% chance just over a month in to 99.96% the other day.


I expect to lose tomorrow, and maybe lose to the ducks Sunday, but mash the ducks on Tuesday at Honda for the most satisfying road win in regular season history. Of course the Kings would still have to be alive for that transcendent level of joy, but I'd take it either way if we're going to end up playing them anyway in the playoffs and get that Harambe level "monkey" off our back.
