Looks like its either Anaheim or Chicago (Edmonton also a small possibility), and I'd put my money its Anaheim if I had to.

With the Ducks still having Chicago on Thursday and the Oilers having a game in hand, the Oilers are still in the race for the Pacific title. If we want WC1, we need to win our final 2 games because I suspect Nashville and St. Louis will both win out.

Not sure if it has been brought up, but the Flames are officially locked into a WC spot. So it'll either be Hawks or (Ducks | Oilers | Sharks).

Sharks would be the best matchup for us Imo but that would require them to winout and Anaheim to lose their remaining games, if it's not San Jose I'd rather face Chicago than Anaheim or edmonton

Sharks have Edmonton and Calgary left. They could conceivably win out but if we lose vs SJ and Nashville wins both of their remaining games then we get pushed down to where we would play Chicago.

Speaking of Preds, they have Dallas and Winnipeg left. They've been a bit up and down lately from what I can tell but those are both very winnable games for them. Then again, if they win out, they would leave the WC situation and it would be the Blues instead.

Speaking of Blues, they have Panthers, Hurricanes, and Avs left. Realistically they're good enough to go 3-0 but they lost to Winnipeg last night so  Either way, I think both the Preds and Blues end up in the WC1 spot, although the Preds need to outright get more points than the Flames.

Ducks have Chicago and LA left, I think a reasonable expectation for them would be 1-1 in those games. Then again their defense is in shambles so who really knows. But pretty sure they only need to pick up one more win to clinch the div.

Oilers have SJ and Vancouver left. Again reasonable expectation would be 1-1 in those games, they have to win out and hope for some help from other teams to win the div.

It's also worth nothing that it's impossible for both Edmonton and SJ to win out because there's a H2H left.

So after that massive brain dump, I think what we'll end up with is the following:

C1. Chicago vs WC2. Calgary
C2. Minnesota vs C3. St. Louis
P1. Ducks vs WC1. Nashville
P2. Edmonton/San Jose vs P3. San Jose/Edmonton

I don't really want WC1 tbqh. I think playing Chicago gives us a fresh start and we can just focus on playing our game

I agree with you. Even when we were not so hot at the start of the season we actually played the Hawks pretty well. Now of course playoff Chicago is a different beast but still I wouldn't mind using that series as a measuring stick of sorts.

The Oil actually have Sharks and then Canucks twice. Their game in hand is a big advantage for them. So going 2-1 gives them a shot at the division if Anaheim goes 0-2. Going 3-0 gives them a more realistic shot, especially if none of the wins are in a shootout.

IMO the best possible scenario is the Flames and Oilers both win out with Anaheim losing against Chicago tomorrow. The Oilers are the best match-up. After that, I don't think there is a preferable match-up between Chicago and Anaheim.

Do any scenarios still exist where Calgary plays San Jose in the first round?

Nope, not in round 1. We are locked into a WC spot and they best they can get is 2nd in the pacific and even that will take them beating us and then Edmonton losing back to back games against Vancouver. So San Jose is all but officially locked into that 3rd seed because I cannot seed the Oilers not getting a single point against the Canucks.

We are guaranteed to have Anaheim, Edmonton of Chicago in round 1.
