Any RHD you got your eye on this year JB?

To be completely honest, I haven't been able to keep a close eye on this class due to school and work. But I'm hopeful that once things wind down in the next week or so, I'll be back on track with everything.

So just giving the little knowledge I know so far, I like Dante Fabbro and Charlie McAvoy the best, but they'll both be 1st rounders without a doubt. Later on, I like Andrew Peeke, Jacob Cederholm and Luke Green. Think that Peeke is the best Ranger pick out of the three, though. After that I really have no clue. Frederic Allard is alright, but needs to get bigger/stronger. David Quenneville isn't bad, either. There's really not that many right handed defenders in this class. It's more lefty defensemen and goalies (which NYR have enough of IMO).

Luke Green is my favorite of the RHD's, besides the ones that are right now projected to go in the first round. He's compared a lot to Kris Letang.

What about the college free agents class this year?
I've found these interesting articles (Hockey East division only): http://www.sbncollegehockey.com/201...risi-brandon-tanev-ahti-oksanen-will-merchant
http://www.sbncollegehockey.com/201...phomores-juniors-dan-renouf-hampus-gustafsson

Really hope we take a shot at one puck moving D, to improve our prospects blueline, which is a need.
Some interesting guys:
Tom Parisi (Providence, LH): http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=74186
Alexx Privitera (Vermont, RH): http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=38627
Andy Ryan (Notre Dame, RH): http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=45415

Here you can find the stats for Division 1 for this year. http://www.uscho.com/stats/overall/division-i-men/2015-2016/
Interesting the New Hampshire duo, of Poturalski and Kelleher, both free agents too.

I'm sure they'll have some interest in Andy Ryan since they've seen plenty of him when they watch Fogarty play.

Land of no calls..
I haven't seen much in Andy Ryan's game that says "NHL future." He's a pretty good skater, but everything about him is pretty "meh" and he's a pretty slow decision maker. I'm not sure he'd be able to adapt to the pro game.

I like Nick Saracino, definitely helps Providence's offense. Obviously Ahti Oksanen is still in the discussion too.

Also want to bring up Callum Fryer with UMass-Amherst. Overage and still draft eligible. Doing fairly well on the back end and is a righty shot.

Brown and Nylander are too high in that THW mock.

Laine, DeBrincat, Sergachyov are all too low. Laine should be a top 5 pick, DeBrincat and Sergachyov should both go top 10. Whoever picks up DeBrincat is going to be really, really happy.

I can see Chychrun dropping to #5. Hasn't taken the step forward this year that many thought he would. Matthews, Tkachuk, and the two Finns may go before him.

Brown is too high, for sure, but I could see Nylander being in that spot. Maybe a few spots back, though.

Sergachev has been a pleasant surprise to me. I thought he wasn't going to contest much coming over to the CHL, but he sure as hell will be a Top 10. Laine will go Top 5. DeBrincat is very good, but there was some concern with his shot and size when McDavid helped pile his stats. Now in his 2nd year, he is producing even more and does very well in close of the net. Don't get me wrong, he is a good player, but he is so tiny. So tiny. I see a lot of Zuccarello in him, but I also see a lot of Brian Gibbons if that makes sense. I also think Taylor Raddyish is slightly helping his stats this year, too. Huge risk, IMO, for a 1st rounder. 2nd round I'd for sure take the slip.

Whether or not I would take Brown that high, I'm not sure the ranking is completely out of line.

He has a lot of people really intrigued. Not because of where he is now, but where they think he'll be in two years.

As for Laine, the question is never about talent. Any concerns with him are almost always about maturity and make-up. And there are MAJOR concerns.

Without those, he's easily a top 5 pick. But I can see him slipping out of the top 10.

Agreed on Laine. Still think that Brown has a lot of Etem in him, I just hope it's more of the good than the bad.

I come in peace Rangers fans. Not sure if this is the right place on this board, but just wanted to post here for anyone interested. For any Central NJ fans, the New Jersey Titans of the USA Hockey Junior A Tier II NAHL are having a 20% off discount on tickets using the code SOCIAL20

The team plays in the Middletown Ice Arena and are in first place in their division. It's really good hockey and definitely recommend going to check out a game. Link to get the tickets is below.

I can't say I'm as worried about those things with Brown. As a second generation talent. I'm sure his dad is also a great resource and teacher for him as well.

With Brown I'm not sure he knows what type of player he wants to be. At times, he reminds me a lot of a young, OHL version of Keith Primeau. Other times he looks more like Wayne Primeau, if you get my drift.

Simply put, there's not many guys his size who can do what he does. And he's only likely to get bigger.

The question is whether he's a core player or a compliment player. Even with people I talk to, there doesn't yet seem to be a consensus. With that said, I witnessed a very similar range of reactions in 2010 with Ryan Johansen.

Bob McKenzie article on the college free agent market. The most interesting part of it was that Devils prospect Miles Wood could become a free agent during the Summer of 2017 if he doesn't sign with the Devils this off-season. There's some loop hole in there with the CBA because he had two years of prep-school. He's one of the best prospects in the world. He's been compared to Kreider, and although I don't think he'll be as good, he's in the Hayes, Vesey category from college hockey that, for all intents and purposes, will get to choose which NHL team they play for.

Rangers should be targeting Vesey and Jankowski in the summer. Gonna need all the young contracts they can get

Wood is an interesting prospect. I don't see a star, but I definitely see a legit NHL prospect who could play well for more than a decade.

I'd be shocked if Vesey isn't going to Toronto.

The Leafs are going to be very aggressive, especially over the next two years.

Good point, lets see how his 2nd half of the season is.

I think German Rubtsov has a chance to go top 5 if he has a good U-18's prior to the draft. He's done pretty well in these international tournaments and he's doing well in the MHL. His KHL team doesn't seem to think he's ready for KHL playing time. I don't agree with that. He didn't make Russia's WJC team. I don't agree with that.

Two-way center, size, good skating, offense, defense, skilled. When ranking recent Russian centers, I don't think there's much separating how good Kuznetsov was in his draft year and how good Rubtsov is in his draft year. Malkin's the best Russian center prospect by a lot, but after him, not much separates Rubtsov from being the best since Malkin.
