You know who's chicken fingers are good? Popeye's. I'm off the fast food until I'm past the point where kids try to push me back in the ocean thinking I'm beached whale, but had some in November when I was a prime candidate to wind up on my 600 lb life eventually
I keep saying I’m going to try Popeyes but I still haven’t. I think there’s one on 95 near Kennebunk but that’s a long drive for some chicken tenders lol.

I thought millennials killed Applebee’s?

If I’m going to a chain like that it’s usually Longhorn. I haven’t been to Applebee’s recently enough to judge but it’s never been great.

It can be extremely painful getting every member of my family to agree on one place to go out for dinner, but Longhorn is literally the only one of any kind that we all can agree on. We love that place.

POPEYES are in Kennebunk, South Portland, and West Gardiner, all former locations of Tim Horton's

btw, Taco Bell went from 19 to 15 locations in Maine a week ago, including one here, that has been an Amato's and a Tim Hortons previously..... Krispy Kreme and Firehouse Subs are a short distance down the road

Auburn has also lost the Massachusetts based Papa Gino's due to the bankruptcy of the franchisee.

I tried Krispy Kreme in Auburn once and thought they were good but overrated. Best donuts I’ve had were at Sunday River Brew Pub in Newry. They’re homemade and have a lot of different kinds, deadly.

Gippers is my go to spot in Auburn, their homemade chicken fingers are my favorite haha.

Do people still like KFC? It’s still my go to when I’m near civilization, had it last night. Their chicken fingers are great and I think the wedges are better than a lot of places fries.

I love KFC but I haven't been in a looooooong time now. You're right about the wedges!

The only fast food place I go to (and then not very often) is Subway.

I'll tell you I prefer the local donut chain (Baker's Dozen) to anything Dunkin or Krispy Kreme puts out. Donuts are made fresh every morning and they have a good variety to pick from. I can't vouch for the coffee since I don't drink it. Also, my local Big Y has an excellent bakery department and their donuts rock too.

We went to 5 Guys last week and 2 hot dogs, 3 cheeseburgers and fries was $38. Way too expensive for my taste for hot dogs, cheeseburgers and fries. Good food but way too expensive for that type of food

I went once in Augusta and it was like $12-14 for a burger, fries and a water. I thought it was pretty average and haven’t been back since. You can find better burgers at sit down restaurants for the same price or cheaper. IMO 5 guys is overrated.

Never been impressed with that place, TBH. Think it's grossly overrated.

I agree. Their food is good not "OMG wow!!! What an amazing burger!!!" good though. And I get that it's fresh and all that, but for that kind of $$ it is very overrated. There's better and cheaper options pretty much everywhere.

Hell look at the pics @Fenway posts from all the local joints he knows about and I bet they're not anywhere near as expensive (and locally owned too)

Try the Holy Donut when you make it to Portland one of these times. Tony's donuts is also really good. made fresh daily, and good value.
