What the f*** did Gorton just do
okay okay okay
I like Joey Keane, but this deal is intriguing. I have to imagine that Gauthier will be playing for the Rangers sooner rather than later.
Wow..............I am good with it
young F for RD depth.......resign DeAngelo with Trouba, Fox and still have Lundkvist en route
Play Gauthier right away
This is a good deal if for nothing else, the Rangers have too many d-men and need forwards. Keane out-performing his draft status helped this organization immensely. Gauthier with 26 goals in 44 games in the AHL this year
Added benefit: Gauthier won't be killing the Pack if they meet in the playoffs. Maybe he'll be playing for the Pack instead.
Keane has much higher potential than Gauthier but he will never crack our roster behind our RHD. f*** I loved Keane.
I'm a fan of this
A 22-year old who played 5 games in the NHL for Keane.
Just what we needed.
Traded a B defensive prospect for a B forward prospect, just like everyone on here has been asking him to do the last calendar year.
(I actually have no opinion yet on the trade, as I don't know anything about the new player. Just wanted to be a Critic).
Trading from a strength to address a weakness.
Keane is an A+ prospect if Gauthier is a B prospect, not even close.
I regret getting that Keane #44 jersey.
Gauthier jumped up in Pronman's latest mid-season prospects rankings. Keane didnt make the list.
56. Julien Gauthier, RW, Carolina (Charlotte-AHL)
Oct. 15, 1997 | 6-foot-4 | 225 pounds
Drafted: 21st-overall (2016)
Previous ranking: Not Ranked
Puck Skills: 60
Physical Game: 65
Hockey Sense: 55
There’s a part of me that was reluctant to put Gauthier on this list. He’s a third-year pro who has not dominated the AHL. He does have 17 goals in 29 games this season, though, and has a toolkit that screams NHL player. You don’t see many 6-foot-4 forwards who can skate, have legit skill and can score goals like Gauthier does. He may not be the smartest player ever, but he’s shown this season he can make plays and score in hard areas, has earned some NHL games and ticks off most of the boxes you want in a prospect.
Yes only 22
Not every nhl player has to be 18 and dominate nhl right away gauthier has nice stats
Why is this true?
Lundkvist emerging and trading for Fox really closed up the right side on defense for a while. There are also some longer term prospects that could fill in voids, but Keane was a good one.
That being said, getting a big body that can score, has scored at every level of play, is a nice piece to get back in return.
I wouldn't read into the tea leaves too much, but getting a player like this while Kreider is on the block, it just screams he's going to be gone.
Keane is not an A+ prospect
What are you basing that on?
