No but seriously I have little doubt that Carolina turns him into a good defenseman. But he wasn’t going to be that for us, even though I liked him. It’s a win-win for me if Skjei does turn out to be decent, since I like the Hurricanes as well. My head says Gorton kept and signed the right player while getting rid of the worse, more overpaid player for 4 years. Now we can keep DeAngelo, Strome, and others. I think that these two moves are no doubt good for the rebuild while simultaneously allowing us to be competitive sooner.

Wish the haul was a little more, but I like it. Skjei has basically regressed every single year, this was the worst I've ever seen him play, and with that contract the sooner you trade him the better before the rest of the league realizes the supposed upside has never equalled the actual production.
