Okay, Nylander is “back”, he won’t play for a few more games most likely... but we should expect him back within 3-4 games.

So about game 32, say. That leaves 50 games.

Where do we figure he finishes the regular season in points.

Here are some things we don’t know: where will he go on the PP? I couldn’t find the article but I recall reading in pre-season/off-season that Nylander was planned to be on the 2nd PP unit from the get-go. So I think that nothing has changed on that end.

The 2nd PP unit tends to go out first as the players from PP1 usually draw the penalties.

So he could get good PP usage even on the 2nd unit.

He’s most likely sliding in with Matthews on the “top” line.

We don’t know who his other winger will be...

We don’t know how sluggish he will be either. Maybe he jumps back in, but a slow start is sorta expected.

So how does everyone else see this going for him?

Bearing in mind that’s PPG at 50.
46 for me. Again, Matthews is the reason I could see it, with a dynamic winger like Nylander and opposing teams not being able to focus on that line exclusively, could do great things.

I'm going to say 55 points realistically ... he's on Matthews wing. Maybe up to 60.

I hope he gets as many as possible ... since so many people like to compare Marner and Nylander all the time.

Would it not help the Leafs in negotiations if Nylander came back and did really well?

Either way I'm just happy to have all the players on the team... for hopefully what will be a solid run that lasts a long time into spring.

I was at around 45 in my head and that's where the cutoff line is between choices . . . I went conservative.

Will take him a bit to get back up to speed etc. Remember, this is not the same as returning from an injury . . . he's missed all of camp, and is coming in cold.
Plus, there is the pressure of having to perform up to his contract immediately - which cannot be denied. I wish him the best of course, because it's to the Leafs benefit . . . but I think there'll be bumps on the road.

He will likely do well his 1st and 2nd game based on adrenalin but will likely show a slump for the next few games until he finds his lungs. Not expecting ppg this year. Too late imo

Went with the 36-45 pts. range. Hopefully the higher end of that.

If he puts up 60 in 50 games, the contract becomes a ridiculous steal. That's on pace for 98 pts in 82 games.

He'll probably finish with 40-45 in 50.

That would be great too. I just want him to light it up. Matthews will help with that... once Nylander gets back up to speed.

Between 35-45. Going to take him a while to catch up.

I would guess 40-45pts. I think he will be on the 2nd PP unit and since high skill guys get a lot of their pts on the PP, 40-45 is where I put him.
