This is an 85 year old man who we've noted for years has been displaying senile tendencies. I don't believe for a second that he knew what he was signing up for, beyond being sympathetic to "conservatism" in a vague general sense.

Not a conspiracy theorist or one to shout "fake news media" but there are a lot of things with this situation that scream exploitation to me. I dunno.

I would like to believe that Fox contacted Cherry.

I would like to believe that Don Cherry lives in his own Canadian hockey bubble which is a large part of the reason why he says the crap that he does but ultimately means well and is a good dude at heart.

Fox, on the other hand, is a toxic some would say terrorist organization that is constantly scanning the world for opportunities to sow right wing conservative dissent.

That's their goal and they're really good at it.

So when a prominent figure like Cherry starts ranting about "you people" and then gets fired, you can bet your bottom dollar that this was big news at Fox as this is a GOLDEN opportunity for right wing organizations to sow dissent in one of the most liberal and progressive countries in the world.

I don't find that offensive rather just completely idiotic and dense, or maybe to be more specific it's insulting. In particular some levels of minor hockey in the city may cost $5000 a year but that's a pretty limited group and it costs parents big bucks for any high level competitive activity, figure skating for example.

She probably had a few run ins with lets call them Austin Matthews types and seems to be applying that experience to some 500,000 Canadians who play hockey. So she's just being a dumbass.

Yeah this is the horseshoe effect, as people get more extreme on the left/right they start to bend towards each other.

Just my own way of categorizing but I consider something 'offensive' if the target group being derided has a history of being oppressed/abused/etc, as it can have real effect rubbing salt in the wounds and/or continuing the abuse. Especially if it's a majority vs minority issue. On the other hand, saying something like 'Edmonton Oiler fans are losers' is insulting but not 'offensive'.
