Okay, Pelinka. Well done.

Klutch coming through for the Lakers once again as well. I'm not sure if it's worth $4M but AD getting a role in Space Jam and LeBron giving him #23 helps.

AD's main motive in wanting to play in LA or NY was to expand his brand and grow his off court interests. So thats likely why he was OK with giving up $4 million, there will be lots of ways for him to make that money back and then some.

Lakers will still have to add, Davis and an aging LeBron and essentially nobody else of note loses in 5 or less to Kawhi's Raptors. I still wouldn't bet on them to make it out of the west next year.

They will just do what Miami did in the Bron era... hopefully have a 3rd star and then fill the roster out with veterans on cheap deals who want to win.

The Lakers roster next season is going to look eerily similar to the Miami Heat roster of 2010-2011, and if anyone remembers that roster, it was god awful outside of the Big 3.

In other news, seems LeBron is letting Davis wear #23 (presumably, he'll switch to the #6 he wore in Miami/for Team USA):

(I wonder what everyone who's bought a #23 LeBron Lakers jersey up to now thinks about this.)

Why was LeBron even wearing #23 with the Lakers? Didn't he make a big deal about switching numbers a few years ago because "nobody should wear #23 after Jordan"?

This is so stupid. Players are frequently traded. We have free agency every year. Look at all the star players that changed teams this off-season alone. But somehow one player trying to change numbers is too much for Nike? Give me a break.

Just now seeing this. A number of Lakers fans trashed the most credible NBA reporter out there repeatedly and claimed he was making stuff up but as usual, he ended up being right. How quickly they forgot that it was Woj and Rich Paul together who publicly started the whole AD to LA talk to begin with.

That player is THE biggest star!

That's the weirdest part. Not only the biggest star in the sport but he's the face of Nike basketball and maybe the face of Nike period. It seems pretty easy to accommodate him even if it means taking a financial hit right now.

They are going to market the shit out of the number change next year.

There's pretty good reason to believe Woj can be biased sometimes when he reports on rumors or when he gives his opinions.

There's a pretty detailed post at r/NBA (not by a Laker fan) about his history, suggesting he gets information in exchange for writing puff pieces and giving favorable/unfavorable coverage of certain teams. In the clip above, he seemed adamant about the Lakers not being able to open up a max slot, which they did.

He's still a very reliable insider but he has his flaws.

Nike Basketball Association

They also controlled which uniforms were worn for every game in 2017-18.

How Nike Has Made Life Difficult For Teams In One Area

The players got more input this past season.
