I understand why we went with Sparks, i.e the decision to give the guy who played well on route to a title in the AHL the chance...its just hindsight it looks bad so far

McElhinney is 35. I love that he's playing well for us, and I'm beyond thrilled that we don't have to complain about goaltending costing us game-after-game-after game. But he's not the answer. I'm quite certain he's available if Toronto -- or any playoff contender -- can make a bid for him between now and the end of February. Even if McBackup has two, 40-game half seasons of great goaltending, we're not going to win anything in the next two seasons. I'd definitely be listening.
