I am actually expecting a decent amount of regression from them this year TBH. could easily see them miss the playoffs entirely

I think so too. People are forgetting that the last normal season last March before the COVID pause. The Leafs were just barely holding off the Panthers for 3rd place. And the Panthers have gotten better since then and we’ve gotten worse.

Florida will be lucky to be in the playoff mix. Having 7 players with career seasons all at once is a fluke. They will regress hard.

The Leafs were on a near 120 point pace even with all their injuries - as long as Andersen wasn't in net.

People seem to forget that Krejci and Rask are actually very good players.

Boston could be in a lot more trouble than people are imagining. You don't just lose Chara, Krejci, Krug, Halak and maybe Rask in 2 calendar years and not skip a beat. Florida could be a much bigger regular season test than the Bruins.

We keep saying that about Boston, and it keeps not happening. They are getting older Bergeron is 36, has groin issues, Marchand is 33, Krejci is gone, but replaced with Hall... Rask will be back, and they picked up a very good goalie in Ullmark. At some point in time, there should be a drop off, but we keep predicting it, and it keeps on not happening.

People used to say the same thing about Detroit and San Jose. When these teams fall apart it can happen in a hurry.

Still thank the hockey gods everyday that they don't have Barzal, Chabot and Connor coming in to replace their missing/aging pieces.

Agreed fully, but it's crazy.. Marchand still seems to be getting better every year. Bergeron nearly PPG at 36, and great at everything else a C does. While Hall and Pastrnak are good forwards, if that's all that Boston has, they'll be in trouble. When Marchand and Bergeron fall apart, this team is done... but is it this year? Next year? The year after... hard to predict.

Bruins xGF% rank

09/10 #8
10/11 #16
11/12 #5
12/13 #6
13/14 #5
14/15 #16
15/16 #18
16/17 #2 <--- Pastrnak breakout 1st full season
17/18 #1 <--- McAvoy rookie (instant breakout) season
18/19 #7
19/20 #5
20/21 #10

Their previous contending core was already fading until they got the absolutely massive and somewhat surprising injections of Pastrnak and McAvoy to bring them right back up to elite.

But unless they get another surprising injection of two legit elite studs like that again, this time their fade won't stop I don't think.

They are certainly worse. Cassidy is a terrific coach though so he might prop them up. He's done a great job on an average team with an amazing top line. This will be his biggest challange yet.

You get what you pay for. Play him with JT if he can't keep up with 34 and 16. I just hope he keeps the flies off our stars and puts some fear in opponent dmen retrieving pucks.

My brother in law and nephew are huge Bruins fans and we’re legit cheesed that Ritchie walked and we signed him.

They are the barometer I’m going by at this point….
