Were the sens just suppose to accept the garbage that was being offered for Karlsson? How would that be a win?

Wouldnt the return for Ottawa be much better if they traded him now, rather then at the draft/next year? Maby some of the offers were good, but Dorion expected more for his super star

There will likely be more trading partners in the summer when teams are better able to adjust their cap structure to fit him in. Also teams would likely have an opportunity to sign him long term.

Lmao, this all you guys have.

But but your team use to suck!

Bruins are the Leafs *****, don't see that changing in the playoffs.

And what do you guys have, besides bragging about some useless handful of regular season games? Nothing whatsoever, that's what you have. Must be harsh.

The Bruins got rid of Spooner, a player who had no future on the squad considering he was going to price himself out of Boston (and has Donato gunning for his spot), in order to get rid of a portion of that fat Belesky contract and bring in another veteran presence on that 2nd line to help serve as a stabilizer for DeBrusk.

Now sure they probably overpaid a little bit but considering how Nash was on a downswing because of that terrible Rags team i'd say people are underrating how much better this makes that line.

And as for Leafs fans calling themselves winners for getting Plekanec, you kinda have to wonder what the hell they're thinking.

Agreed, Plekanec for sure isnt a win. I also think the people calling them losers are a little ridiculous as well. At worst, we remained neutral and stuck to the process, which i am happy about.

I try to be pretty unbiased, but TB is a huge winner. It seemed like they were gonna come away with nothing while WPG, BOS, TOR and PIT all improved at least slightly. Then to end the day with McDonagh and JT Miller and only losing Namestnikov off the roster. That's a big time play.

McD automatically makes the second pairing a lower end first pairing and JT Miller provides some help in the FO circle and likely upgrades the offensive depth beyond what Vlad could do.

Yeah Tampa is easily the biggest winner, even if they get bounced in the first round they still have another year. Pittsburgh I'd put second but Boston could overtake them if Nash pays off but I think he's a bigger wild card then some want to admit.

Toronto takes fourth but I really like the moves they made, this wasn't the year for a huge push so giving us some depth in our weakest position, fourth line center. It's really hard to pick a winner until the playoffs are finished and we see the impact of the players added.

Buyer winner: Tampa pretty easy. Not having to give up Sergachev or even Foote is insane.
Buyer runner up: Winnipeg, probably. Stastny makes a lot of sense there. Pittsburgh and CBJ honorable mention.
Buyer loser: Vegas. Tatar deal was weird.
Buyer... runner up loser: Anaheim. Feels like they didn't know they were buyers. Not sure what happened.

Seller winner: NYR. Thought they should've got more for McDonagh but the package was still good, and thought they won Nash deal.
Seller runner up: Maybe Ottawa? Thought they did okay in Brassard trade, and sitting on your hands is better than screwing up a Karlsson deal.
Seller loser: Vancouver. Why.
Seller runner up loser: Buffalo, I guess. Just thought they would get more for Kane.

The worst part about the Boston-Toronto back and forth is I don't think either team falls under either category. They both made meh deals that probably help their team but don't shake things up too much. Who cares.

namestnikov was on pace for 60 points. along with picks it's not a small price imo.

Simple question, probably already been asked but...

Who are the big winners from the trade deadline and who are the big losers?

Winners:
Sharks; Got Kane for noting, chances of re signing are high
Lightning; Acquired the best player at the deadline, somehow got Miller too
Red Wings; Tatar for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd is crazy, Green could resign

Losers:
Senators; Could have done more, Bassard trade was good but waving Oduya for noting and not getting rid of other pieces stings when you are in full rebuild mood
Sabers; Kane leaves for a conditional first, no other big pieces moved in another awful year in Buffalo
Islanders; How did you not trade for a goalie. How is Taverse going to stay when you have no one in net!

Discuss!

Columbus looked like the team from last year with Letestu centering the 4th line and it looks like Cole/Savard might become a helluva shutdown paid together.

Hopefully Vanek can mesh well with someone and at least hit 50 this season.
They also brought us The Beard Brothers, which must be forever protected.

Rick Nash with a goal for Boston.
Ryan Hartman with the game winning goal for Nashville.
Paul Statsny with instant chemistry with Laine and Ehlers. 1G 1A for the Jets.

Good starts for these 3 as trade deadline pick ups.

With Bergy out for the moment. Adding a guy of the pedigree of Nash was huge. He's having an off year that is reflective to what is going on in NY where a poster cited the Nash deal was a loser trade deadline deal because he was on a 38 pt pace, clearly it is not in the present as Nash showed last night he can still play and contribute to the bottom line, a big win last night.

So which is it? Either they got him for nothing or he resigns and they paid a 1st and other pieces......both can't be true

It's almost like we can't evaluate any of the trades 2 days after they were made. Still don't like the Bruins deal, should have kept their 1st and Spooner. Love the Stastny deal, come around on the McDonagh deal. Hartman was a nice deal considering his age and utility.

Curious How does Plekanec look in his first 2 games since the trade? Leafs gave up a 2nd rder and prospects for him.

Agree about Statsny, he looked like he fit like a glove when inserted into Winnipeg's line up last night.

By "should have kept their 1st and Spooner" you mean "should have not acquired Rick Nash" right? Because the deal wasnt happening without the 1st and Beleksey wasnt leaving without Spooner going the other way.
