By the way - both the TSN and Sportsnet sites have really doubled down on their love for the Leafs. Take a look at the main page headlines on both sites:

TSN
- Spezza offered #19 to Thornton
- Thornton on why he chose the Maple Leafs: I need to win a Stanley Cup
- Thornton explains why he refused Spezza's offer to take #19
- Looking for advice on leaving San Jose, Thornton turned to Joe Montana
- Dubas says Thornton is still a 'high-end playmaker' that can drive play
- Dubas: Leafs looked to add personality with additions of Thornton, Simmonds

Sportsnet
- Maple Leafs Joe Thornton: I need to win a Stanley Cup
- Why Joe Thornton chose Toronto ( and 8 more Maple Leafs notes )
- Patrick Marleau explains what Joe Thornton can bring to the Maple Leafs
- Dubas thrilled to bring in Thornton's skillset and locker room presence
- Thornton sees Andersen as major piece to help Maple Leafs win Stanley Cup
- Maple Leafs, Thornton unite long, painful quests for Stanley Cup glory

Keep in mind that these are both National sports sites and supposedly not just for Toronto readers. :thumbd:

With the smurfs
Love the Grzelcyk signing though. Sweeney always does a good job with RFA's who are overly loyal to Boston. He knows how to get RFA's to sign for less than value. His best strength as a GM.

Next DeBrusk.

Than you sign Granlund on the cheap for 3.5M/1y.

I'm good with that, tbh.

Just for fun:

BOS: Boeser, Eriksson
VAN: Debrusk, Ritchie, Moore

Eriksson has two years left, one with Coyle or Krejci and could be a stop gap with Marchand and Pasta out for a bit.
Not a huge price to pay for Boeser long term.

So I'm going to use an analogy. When I'm getting my distances for my 7 iron I don't use the one that I catch perfectly that goes 193 yards unless I do that another 4 times. So I remove and find that my average is 165 yards instead. Everyone knows that Tampa outplayed Boston in game 3. That is an outlier so it isn't a good representation of that series. Now if it was the opposite I would do the same. In those other 4 games they were much closer.
Not sure we watched the same series , Tampa thoroughly outplayed us the whole series , we got a quick start and held on for dear life in game one and they still almost came back the rest of the series wasn’t close , it was clear they were playing not to loose and clinging to life

That doesnt sound fun to me. And the Nucks would never do that.

If winning 2 overtime games and 1 by 2 is dominating than I don't know what to say. I think they faced the same challenge against 3 of the 4 teams. In the Columbus series they won all 4 games by a goal. Other than that they won 2 games by 1 goal, 1 game by 2-3, and 1 as a blowout.
Forget about the scores and watch the game , we were always a step behind , we were never in that series even after game one

A gm last season (maybe it was a coach) said the Bruins were a ‘nice’ team to play against.

That lineup will move from ‘nice’ to ‘pleasant’.

Will be fine in the regular season. Wallpaper in the playoffs.

Kovalchuk being a left winger would bump Jake to Coyles line with Kase. Krech, Kovy and Smith on the 2nd line when everyone is back.

Nothing like swinging for the fences and going all in.
This is just like getting absurd at this point. I literally can’t think of one current player I’d less want anywhere near the team I root for. Guy always has been and always will be an absolute heartless bum

At 700k....if true, even if he just makes PP2 legitimate and he scores 15 it might be worth it.

Didn't Kovalchuk come down to Washington and Boston at the deadline and he choose Washington? So it wouldn't be surprising if Sweeney still had interest.

Seems like another MOC kind of move. Sign a potential future Hall-of-Famer for peanuts at the very very end of his career (see Mullen, Leetch, Coffey, etc.).

Zboril in the top 4? How many NHL minutes does he have?

I mean.. I think we should move on from Chara as much as anyone, but..
