So there's no way Babcock was in charge here. They'd all be RH shots if he had his way.No RH shots, okay
Five C, 1 LW, and 1G. Nice.
C - Larkin - 6'0" - 190
C - Turgeon - 6'1" - 198
C - Ehn - 6'3" - 181
G - Perry - 6'2" - 189
LW - Vahatalo - 6'5" - 191
C - Holmstrom - 6'0 - 198
C - Kadeykin - 6'3" - 213
oh wow a russian. Average height is like 6'2 for this draft
Signed a 3 year deal in the KHL. Turns out there wasn't a ton of NHL interest in him as a right-now player.Speaking of Russian...any news on Malykhin? Remember Wings were linked with him and he wanted to come over.
Worth a training camp/preseason shot?
I was initially kind of underwhelmed, but I'm coming around. I think the only pick I'm iffy on is Turgeon, and that's because Anton Karlsson was still in the board.
The NHL is back to its usual size queen ways. They were away from that for a while, but they couldn't stay away. Couple that with the fact that he's Russian and you've got a player everybody wants but nobody will spend anything for.I didn't think Vladimir Tkachev wouldnt go at all in the draft, pretty surprised about that.
8 Frolunda players taken in this draft. Crazy.
I'm excited for the size we have been drafting don't get me wrong, but it seems as though we're drafting prospects purely for size with a 3rd/4th line center ceiling?
Haha. They're both 6'0" too.name holmstrom, needs work on skating, weighs 196, born '96
Is this Homer 2.0?
20 year old center, put up 23 points in the KHL and lead his team in scoring. And he was on my wish list too, unranked by CSS
Love these three last picks. Great stuff.
Yeah, I like the last three picks too. Maybe none of them will pan out, but at least they've got potential.20 year old center, put up 23 points in the KHL and lead his team in scoring. And he was on my wish list too, unranked by CSS

I think this draft happened largely in response to that. They want to balance out their roster with big two-way centers to take care of their elite scoring wingers. So apparently our plan is to ice the biggest team in the league, regardless of skill. I don't mind some size picks, but what happened to all those skill picks like in 11?

well they could turn out better than that but big guys that go this late have their issues obviously.. there has been clear change in philosophy imo but this happened before wright came in.
good to see them take flyers at centers but these look like mostly low upside guys. hope they pan out better than that.
