I can't imagine us trading down. I could see us paying a small price to move up to #3 with Habs. Nothing more than 1 of our 3 #3 round picks. With all the chatter out there, Montreal hopefully is still committed to selecting the C and they lose all the leverage as a result. Although I wouldn't mind giving up more to get Zadina, but I don't want to give up anything of substance, because I'd be more than happy to select Wahlstrom.

Anyone else going to the draft party at Wild Horse? I'll be there with a buddy...can't wait. We're going to play a round of golf in the morning and then ability to just stay there and freshin' up before the draft.

We stay at 5 and pick Tkachuk, who immediately busts.

Idk.. I am higher on Boqvist than others but if he can stay healthy I can see him being a force. After 6 or so I can't really say... Haven't seen enough to do a good job haha.

idk why but i'm really high on Hughes. I just think that NCAA route is a very good developmental path for defenseman as they're allowed to stay later and have been producing some high quality guys as of late (McAvoy, Hanifin, Werenski + Makar coming up.)

I still have Tkachuk high because the combination of NHL-ready snarl, size, and skill is worth something to me even if his ceiling is not as high as the Dmen. Boqvist scares me only because of the injury history. Size doesn't help him though.
I don't see the huge gap after Zadina that some people see, either. Not a lot separates 3-10, imo. I'll be happy with any one 1-7 at 5. A lot of positional bias (not need) in my list. I like him, but think Kotkaniemi is moving up lists mostly based on how thin the draft is at center (on top, anyway).
I also trust the scouting dept quite a bit more now than ever before, so I won't flipout (probably) if they go screwy.

You're the first to put Tkachuk and Bouchard top five. The little that I know about these kids I like those two as well.

I'm fairly alone it seems on Tkachuk. It is very reminiscent of the discussion surrounding Rasmussen last year but I'm confident in my assessment.

Bouchard is a RD which was the deciding factor between him and Hughes (who I love - his skating is a pleasure to watch). Bouchard is super smart, can play a boatload of minutes, is a great passer, and has a shot that is very OELesque in terms of accuracy and his ability to get it through traffic. He fits.
