7.5mil is good value for Reilly. He's a top pairing dman, but not an elite number 1.

The concern for the Leafs is that, generally speaking, you need a legit stud number one guy on D to climb the mountain. Teams that have a lot of 1b guys sharing the load don't seem to do as well for whatever reason.

Reilly, Brodie and Muzzin are all very-good to great dmen right now, but none of them are legit #1 studs.

But at least they're not paying a merely very good dman like he's an elite number 1 stud.

*cough*

Does he have prettier paint blot charts for that $2 mil savings?

It’s a mystery as to how all these “vaccinated” players just keep popping up with positive covid tests. (I’m aware the vaccine isn’t 100% effective.)

I had covid August of 2020 and had gotten the vaccine back in January due to work circumstances. I have definitely been exposed to covid at least a dozen times this year with no ill effect to me or anyone else I had encountered after the fact. So it’s just curious…

The vaccine won't stop you from testing positive for Covid. It will increase the chances of being asymptomatic and drastically decrease the chance of being hospitalized with Covid.

I said in my post I'm aware of that and maybe should have specified more; I have not tested positive nor anyone I’ve come into contact with after I had been exposed to covid vaccinated or not. So it just seems a little strange all these vaccinated players are put into protocols daily. I can’t imagine professional athletes being that much more exposed to the virus than anyone else who deals with public occurrences increasing odds of testing positive.

Has to revert to doing so as he can't keep the pace anymore.

Well actually , slewing is pretty well a standstill move but, what I said.
I can remember PK doing the same slew foot moves early in his career. He is great at making it look incidental. I think I remember he even got Toews a few years ago.

a) They're tested far more regularly than most people, so they will have far more asymptomatic positive tests.
b) This is the problem of extrapolating from anecdotal evidence.

6:30 am trade. Vegas FO was probably up all night at the casino, then drunk-dialed Buffalo to make a deal

I would try real damn hard to pry Tuch away from Buffalo. Prospects fit their timeline much better.

As nice of a thought as it is, only prospect that could probably swing that deal is Reichel and I wouldn’t do that. The rest of our prospects kind of stink.

The fact the Sabres had to give up a 2023 3rd in this deal is laughable

Still not horrendous for them but they would have gotten more value trading him away at start of offseason IMO

We really shouldn't be prying anyone from anywhere until we figure out which direction we're going to go. I don't see how this team doesn't avoid an actual rebuild at this point.
Would have been nice to have not traded for Seth Jones. Not that Jones is bad by any means, but rather the fact that Bowman completely misjudged the talent level of this roster. Time to move on from 19/88 and really bottom out.

Not that the Hawks would have picked Sillinger, but it would be nice to have Sillinger and Boqvist plus the Hawks 1st next year. All of those guys are more valuable to the Hawks than Seth Jones is.

If anything, the Hawks should be shopping Jones to recoup some of the assets.
