I dont know maybe because you can train them... I didnt make the game but many players have different ratings in HUT:
Malkin, Rask, Larsson, Tavares, Hall, Zetterberg, and Fowler just to name a few.

I'd assume because the individual categories have more impact on the overalls then how they compare to their peers.

Yeah Luongo (89) and Schneider (83) in what world? Schneider should be 85 , Luongo should be 86-87 at worst with C- potential.

If the Player rating can not be editted and brought into a "be a GM" type mode I will go balistic. If anyone else plays madden you know what I'm talking about. In Madden they did away with the franchise mode and made you play Connected mode. Not only that they do not allow you to bring in custom rosters or edited/Created players into the mode.
