Rangers Wheel and Deal
Trade Deadline Report
34-23-8
March 4, 2013

With the Rangers sitting comfortably in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference, GM Flamesrule did some tweaking to the roster. The first trade he made was somewhat of a lateral move, sending goaltender Scott Stajcer, a 2014 3rd rounder, and a 2015 4th rounder to the fourth-place Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for their 2013 1st round draft pick. "We need to get some more top end talent in the system, and twith this trade it helps that", said GM Flamesrule. "Hopefully, we can move up in the draft so we can select even higher talent." Since the Rangers gave away a goaltender, they signed Cristobal Huet to a one year deal.

The second deal was a one-for-one trade, with the Rangers getting defenseman Adam Party, while sending away left-winger Aaron Asham. The Rangers were looking for size on the back end, and with this trade it obviously helps that. When the deal was made, Pardy was sent directly to the Connecticut Whale, who are the Rangers farm team.

Before 3:00 came, GM Flamesrule made one more minor trade, as he needed a replacement for Aaron Asham. Who would that guy be, you might ask? Well, "that guy" is heavyweight Eric Nystrom, who played for the Stars for the majority of the year. In exchange for Nystrom, the Rangers had to give up centerman Darrol Powe.

2015 Offseason Report

This was a fairly eventful offseason for the Hurricanes. Defenseman Toni Lydman retired so Justin Falk, Ed Jovanovski, and Blake Kessel were brought in to replace him and bolster the defensive core. Flyers8 made an interesting trade during the draft, swapping picks with Anaheim for the 2nd overall pick. He used that pick to draft defenseman Gord Wyman who is nearly NHL ready.

Question... you guys have likely gone through the most computer-generated prospects out of anyone on the board... what's the biggest variance in draft-day projected potential and actual potential you've seen (up or down)? I.E. when you draft a guy, it looks like he should be a 2 star prospect, but when you look in your contracts screen he's 2.5 stars or w/e.

Not Done Yet

Glads forward Dale Wiese faces Dallas goaltender Kari Lehtonen on a breakaway attempt.

This amazing season for the Seattle Gladiators is not done yet. They're heading to the Stanley Cup Finals to face the Ottawa Senators. Ottawa swept the Washington Capitals in the Eastern Conference Finals to advance to the final round.

Some people thought the Glads' regular season performance was a fluke, but no one can really say that now, as they've proved themselves to be a top team in the league.

In the Western Conference Finals, Seattle played the Dallas Stars. In six games, Dallas was eliminated. Fans were worried when Seattle failed to score a goal in both games two and three, but the Glads got their **** together and won the next three games. The Stars did not show up at all in game six, losing 7-2.

Game 1: 4-1 Gladiators Win
Game 2: 2-0 Stars Win
Game 3: 4-0 Stars Win

Game 4: 3-2 Gladiators OT Win
(Weise w/ GWG)
Game 5: 2-0 Gladiators Win
Game 6: 7-2 Gladiators Win

Dale Weise has emerged as a top player in the 2016 playoffs. He leads the whole playoffs in both goals (10) and is tied for the point scoring lead with 16. Cory Conacher leads the playoffs with 13 assists, and has 14 points. Phil Kessel and Andy Miele are tied for second in the league with 15 points each.

Devils make changes, switch depth up

Pascal Dupuis (Up), Mikka Kiprusoff (Down), were 2 players that were signed.

We weren't doing great and some of our Depth and Goaltending wasn't doing great so we made some trades and signed some players. Listed below:

Caps 2015 2nd Round Pick

We also signed 35 year old 80 Overall Pascal Dupuis to a 1 year/$2,800,000. And then signed Mikka Kiprusoff to a 3 year/$4,000,000 deal, he is a 'Starting Goaltender' at 83 Overall.

My intentions were to spark the team, as we were at the bottom of the League. Hopefully this helps.

GM's Grind Jam Grind's GM experience with the Carolina Hurricanes has been a successful one since taking over in the 2012-2013 season, with teams reaching the Cup Finals, and many ECF's, but they had never won the Cup. Until now. The Carolina Hurricanes knocked off the Dallas Stars, who had been champions for the past two seasons in 7 games, overcoming a 0-2 series deficit. Final playoff roster was:

Jeff Skinner (SNP 89) - Logan Couture (PLY 89) - Pat Kane (SNP 88)
James Neal (PWF 85)- Jordan Staal (TWF 85) - Nail Yakupov (SNP 81)
Drayson Bowman(SNP 83) - Calle Jarnkrok (PLY 81) - Oscar Lindberg (TWF 80)
Corey Tropp (TWF 81) - Juri Tlusty (PLY 81) - D. Smith-Pelly (PWF 80)

Jake Gardiner (TWD 88) - Seth Jones (TWD 88)
Aaron Ekblad (TWD 85) - Jamie McBain (OFD 85)
Bobby Sanguinetti (TWD 83) - Dan Girardi (DFD 83)

Steven Veilleux (HYB 88)
Jacob Blair (HYB 81)

With an elite roster like this, (yes, Salary Cap is ON) GM Grind Jam Grind was getting frustrated when they fell into an 0-2 hole in the first and last rounds, but the guys pulled through and dethroned Dallas. (To whom they had lost 2 years ago in the SCF)

Jeff Skinner led playoff scoring with 35 points in 26 games. Logan Couture had 32, and Patrick Kane had 24.
Goaltender Steven Veilleux had a 2.38 GAA and .9235 sv%. Smith-Pelly and Dan Girardi were trade-deadline acquisitions.

Awards: Jeff Skinner earned the Conn Smythe. Steven Veilleux won the Ted Lindsay, while Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne won the Vezina.

I had a prospect who was a center, had big size, and was 3 stars on draft day. I drafted him in the 3rd round, he went up to 4 stars and was a 71ovr. He went on to be a 88ovr if I remember correctly.

Burned, Again

Coyotes collapse against Flames for 2nd straight season

flames.jpg

Sven Baertschi roofs one on Mike Smith in Game 7.

Game 1: 2-1 W
Game 2: 1-0 2OT L (Stempniak scored winner)
Game 3: 1-0 W
Game 4: 4-1 W

Game 5: 3-2 L
Game 6: 4-1 L
Game 7: 6-3 L

After Max Reinhart made it 4-1 Flames in the 2nd period of game 7, the look on GM GreeningSingleLady's face summed up the last 3 games of the series: a great big .

For a 2nd consecutive playoffs, the Phoenix Coyotes blew a 3-1 series lead to the Calgary Flames and lost in 7 games. After the conclusion of game 7, GM GreeningSingleLady was interviewed, and did not lash out this time.

"It sucks to have this happen again, but I'm proud of the boys" he said. "We had a good year, and just unfortunately met the same opponent that took us down last year. As for changes, don't expect much. I like how our team looks".

It should be a quiet offseason in Arizona. However, look for goaltender Mike Smith to potentially be dealt. Alex Stalock has appeared to have overtaken him for the #1 job.

Just a brief description of this season, becuase no stats will be shown. No point, really.

We missed the playoffs, we finished 22nd in the league. Derek Brassard finished with the teams point lead with 71(15 goals, 56 assists) while Kovalchuk was in 2nd with 70 points (37 goals, 33 assists). Adam Larsson scored the most on D, putting up 35 points (5 goals, 30 assists).

We then traded Pascal Dupuis to the Wild for there upcoming (2015) 2nd Round Pick and traded Kiprusoff to the Canucks for there '15 1st Round Pick. We signed Antii Rantta late and he was solid for the rest of the season in net, he'll be a goalie for us next year.

About it. Are AHL team did good, they're in the Playoffs. Off-Season next/updates of AHL.

Canes Claim First Seed in Eastern Conference

The Hurricanes finished the 2015-16 campaign at the top of the Eastern Conference with a record of 51-27-4 for 106 points. This record was partly due to the fact that three of their players made the NHL All Star Game. These players were Jeff Skinner, Drayson Bowman, and Cam Ward. Carolina, however, did not win the Presidents' Trophy for the second year in a row because the Columbus Blue Jackets won it with 117 points.

The Canes play the 8th seeded Florida Panters in the Eastern Conference Quarter Finals.

Hurricanes Upset In Seven

You would think that a 1st seeded team would be able to beat an 8th seeded team in a playoff series, but that was not the case for the Carolina Hurricanes when they played the Florida Panters in the Eastern Conference Quarter Finals. Here is what GM Flyers8 had to say about the series:
It was a disgrace. It made our season a disappointment and there will be changes. What happened was unacceptable. It would have been fine if we played well and got beat by a better team, but that was not the case.

2016 Offseason Report

Flyers8 wasn't lying when he said there would be changes in the offseason. They started at the Entry Draft where Alexander Semin was traded to Vancouver and the first overall pick was acquired from Colorado. This pick was used to draft Chinese goaltender Theo Robertson because Cam Ward can't be the Hurricanes goalie forever even though he's playing like he's still 25. There were also major free agent signings including Carl Hagelin and Jamie Mcginn. No one knows how this team will do in the upcoming season, but they will definitely look different.

Eagles Make Moves Leading Up to New Years

The Halifax Eagles' unwritten rule of not trading players in the days leading up to Christmas stuck again this year, though it seems clear that they were looking into deals regardless. The team has made a deal and plucked another player off waivers ahead of their tilt tonight against the Washington Capitals.

Funny enough, it is the Capitals they have made this trade with.

Wojtek+Wolski+Washington+Capitals+v+Philadelphia+jo5ODPGZ9Nmx.jpg

To Halifax:
LW Wojtek Wolski
RW Jordan Messier

To Washington:
LW Dwight King
D Torey Krug

The Eagles have acquired maligned winger Wojtek Wolski from the Caps. The team hopes he will be able to step in and prove to be an offensive threat alongside Stephen Weiss on the second line.

The team has also picked up defenseman Jason Demers off waivers from the San Jose Sharks. Demers is defensively sound and is able to add to the offence as well so the Eagles hope he can contribute positively.

The Eagles are currently last in the Eastern Conference with a 13-22-2 record. Their 28 points ties them for last in the NHL with the Nashville Predators.

The Canes had a record of 49-28-5 for 103 points. The Hurricanes will face division rival, the Tampa Bay Lightning, in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. Derek Stepan was the leading scorer for the Rangers with 70 points in the 2012-2013 campaign.

Rangers fans, you can finally breathe, as the 2012-2013 season finally ended. You can call the season a success, as the New York Rangers finished 3rd in the Eastern Conference, which means that they won the Atlantic Division. The Rangers also finished the season with 100 points, which is the 2nd time in five that they have hit that type of milestone. "The team did well this year", said GM Falmesrule. "But there are area's to improve on such as the offense. I don't think we're quite there yet but we are close."

Derek Stepan did exceptionally well this year, potting in 29 goals and 41 assists, which adds up to 70 points. It was the highest amount on the Rangers. "With the new coach, I was finally given more leeway" said Derek Stepan. "I also just palyed my own game. Let's hope it translates to the playoffs; (I) think it will." The 2nd player with most points on the team was Rick Nash, who had 69 points in total. 35 of those points were goals while 34 were assists.

Rangers Exile Islanders in Six
1st Round Recap
April 29, 2013

henrik-lundqvist2.jpg

Henrik Lundqvist came up big against the New York Islanders in the 1st round of the playoffs.

It took six games but the New York Rangers eliminated arch-rivals New York Islanders in the 1st round of the 2013 NHL playoffs. Henrik Lundqvist was the star of the series, posting three shutouts in six games, and only allowing five goals agains the opposition. However, it wasn't all happy in the series, as the Rangers had some major trouble scoring in the beginning of the series. "We weren't playing out game" said Captain Ryan Callahan. "We weren't going deep, playing a hard forecheck, and we weren't dumping the puck. But coach reeled us in and we finally were playing well at the end of the series. And as you can see, we dominated when we played our game."

Another player that came up big was defenseman Marc Staal. Staal had 30 hits combined in the series, which was the team best. He also blocked a ton of shots. It may not have had shown up on the scoreboard, but it definitely showed in the locker after the game(s), as many players gave him a pat on the back for his hard work.

Game One: 2-1 L
Game Two: 3-0 W
Game Three: 0-2 L
Game Four: 2-0 W
Game Five: 5-1 W
Game Six: 5-0 W

Question for you guys:

I did a bunch of these for NHL 12 and haven't had time for NHL 13 until now.

Are you using the standard EA rosters or third party ones? I know last year there was a set of good third party ones going around

I use EA's roster, except sometimes I edit the potential and/or overall of some players. For example Marc Methot is a 78, which is Pejorative Slured, so in my roster I made him 83 overall.

If you sim games you might want to make some changes to certain players, but if you play all your games I don't think there's much point.

Hurricanes get ready for playoffs

The Carolina Hurricanes might have won the Stanley Cup last year, but GM Grind Jam Grind insisted that they were not going to take the year off. Due to salary cap restrictions, the Hurricanes lost some key players, particularly defensemen, off their SC winning team, most notably Dan Girardi and Jamie McBain. However, they refilled these holes with their long-awaited prospects making an impact.

The rosters heading into the playoffs:

Skinner 89 - Couture 89 - Kane 88
Neal 84 - J. Staal 86 - Yakupov 85
Bowman 82 - Lindberg 81 - Jessey Astels 83*
Bryan Bickell 74 - T. Mitchell 77 - D. Smith-pelly 79

*Drafted in 2013, 100th overall, grinder, 3.5 yellow stars

Gardiner 86 - Jones 90
Joonas Valkonen 83* - Ekblad 85
Charles Johnson 81** - Connor Murphy
*DFD, drafted in 2013,38th overall, 3.5 yellow stars
**GRN , drafted in 2013, 121st overall, 3.5 yellow stars

Steven Veilluex 88
Jacob Blair 81
The Canes are 1st in the East. Logan Couture led the league in scoring with 88 points.

The Hurricanes are set to play the NY Islanders in the 1st round.

Disappointing End to the Hurricanes Season

The Hurricanes lost in 7 games to the 8th seeded NY Islanders in the 1st round of the 2019 playoffs.

GM Grind Jam Grind is severly disappointed, but said that he likes the core group and that the media should not expect many changes.

Of course, that largely depends on the salary cap and the contracts that will need renewing.

GM Grind Jam Grind cites the many young players that are making an impact/close to making an impact. This includes:

D Seth Jones, 24 years old, 90 OV, 4.5 Green Stars
RW Nail Yakupov, 25 years old, 85 OV, 4.5 Green Stars
D Aaron Ekblad, 23 years old, 85 OV, 4.5 yellow stars

Also off the roster this year, but developing in other minor leagues,

LW Hunter Shinkaruk 24 years old, 76 OV, 4.5 yellow stars
C Connor McDavid, 22 years old, 72 OV, 4.5 yellow stars
D Chris Harper, 19 years old, 71 OV, 4 yellow stars
C Morgan Klimchuk, 24 years old, 76 OV, 4 yellow
D Oscar Klefbom, 78 OV, 25 years old, 4 yellow
D Darnell Nurse, 74 OV, 24 years old, 4 yellow

GM Grind Jam Grind is excited for the upcoming 2019 draft, and also to see which of these prospects can make a difference next year.

I had a prospect who was a center, had big size, and was 3 stars on draft day. I drafted him in the 3rd round, he went up to 4 stars and was a 71ovr. He went on to be a 88ovr if I remember correctly.

Wow! Do you know if he was one of the guys mentioned after the prospects game?
