It takes 7 to knock-out Caps

c4s_stamkos041113_10595345_8col.jpg

Stamkos' line continues to be stellar.

It was a back and forth high scoring series that went to the limit. But in the end we were just the better team. Nikita Kucherov finished with the most points for the Lightning in that series with 5 (3 goals, 2 assists) while Patrick Kane was all scoring with 4 goals, 4 points, in the 7 games played. Stamkos and Jack Connolly also had 4 points. Everyone on Forward except for Jay McClement had atleast a point, most multi.

Mark Barberio back on D was great for us, he had 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) while Hedman and Carle had 3 and Gardiner had 2. Lindback played all 7 games and finishes with a record of 4-3 with a 1.72 GAA and .923 SV%. The Series Score Summary went like:

Game 1: Tampa Wins 4-1
Game 2: Caps Win 3-1
Game 3: Tampa Wins 3-1
Game 4: Caps Win 1-0
Game 5: Tampa Wins 5-1
Game 6: Caps Wins 4-1
Game 7: Tampa Wins 3-1

Next up we're facing our Florida Rivals, the Florida Panthers. They finished as the 7th seed with a record of 43-32-7, 93 points. In 6 games this season we tied in the season series 3-3. The scores went like: 8-2 win, 3-2 loss, 4-3 win, 2-1 win, 3-0 loss, 5-3 loss. So it can be a high scoring series, or low scoring. We'll see.

Here are the Rosters:

Introducing the NHL's newest team...

Halifax Eagles

I took over the Florida Panthers and moved them north of the border to Halifax. I had to rearrange the divisions a bit in the East, so now they look like so:

NE Division: Halifax, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Winnipeg
Atlantic Division: Rangers, Islanders, New Jersey, Boston, Buffalo
SE Division: Washington, Carolina, Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia

Yes, I managed to create an all-Canadian division! Should be fun.

Stephen Weiss in the Eagles home jersey; Erik Gudbranson in the Eagles away jersey.

I will get to posting updates as soon as I can. :)

PS sorry for the bad quality photos... had to take them with my phone.

Na Na Na Na Hey Hey Hey Goodbye

Patrick Kane Celebrating after his Game 5 Overtime Winner.

It was a fairly close series that was powered by our Overtime magic! We went to Overtime 3 times in this series and we won all 3! Nikita Kucherov scored the OT GWG in Game 1, Stamkos in Game 2, and mentioned Patty Kane in game 5. Our whole 1st line scored an OT goal themselves.

Nikita Kucherov still leads us in Playoff Points and now leads the league in them, with 14 (7 goals, 7 assists). Stamkos is behind him with 12 (2 goals, 10 assists) and Kane with 11 points (8 goals, 3 assists). Micheal Ryder had a great series down there on the 4th line and now has 6 points (3 goals, 3 assists).

Victor Hedman continues his great 2 way game, and now has 7 assists in these Playoffs. Mark Barberio is behind him with 6 points, 3 goals. Carle with 5 and Gardiner with 3. Anders Lindabck was pulled a few times and now has a record of 8-5 through 13 games, with a 1.58 GAA and .937 SV%. Dansk is recorded down as 1 full game played (all added up from him relieving, I guess). The Series Score Summary:

Game 1: Tampa Wins 3-1 (Kucherov OT GWG)
Game 2: Tampa Wins 2-1 (Stamkos OT GWG

Game 3: Florida Wins 6-2
Game 4: Florida Wins 3-2

Game 5: Tampa Wins 2-1 (Kane OT GWG)
Game 6: Tampa Wins 5-1

In Round 3 and the East Finals, the Tampa Bay Lightning will be facing GM JaredCowenFan's old Club, the Winnipeg Jets. They're the 6th seed, finishing with a record of 42-30-10, 94 points. In 6 games this year we took 4/6 by scores of: 5-2 win, 3-2 win, 2-1 loss, 3-0 loss, 3-2 win, 3-2 win.

Rosters:

Tampa Bay Lightning (1st)

Nikita Kucherov (87 Overall) - Steven Stamkos (92 Overall) 'A' - Patrick Kane (87 Overall)
Jack Connolly (82 Overall) - Vincent Lecavalier (85 Overall) 'C' - Jason Pominville (85 Overall)
Philp-Micheal Devos (80 Overall) - Valterri Filppula (82 Overall) - Dana Tyrell (80 Overall)

Offence shrivels up, Lightning fall in 5 to Jets....

114702269_crop_650x440.jpg

Steven Stamkos talks to the media on what happpend exactly. And on what his Contract situation is. As it is up this Off-Season.

We just couldn't score, we were shutout 3 times in this series. We just didn't have what it took. Gotta give it to the Jets. It stings, forsure. But we believe we will have another contending team next year. We do have some big decisions to make though, we might have to let some players go as Stamkos, Hedman and others' contracts are expiring. This will be a busy Off-Season. We're also very intrigued to see how Conner McDavid and Jonathan Drouin have progressed.

Our AHL Club did the impossible in Round 2 coming back from a 3-0 deficit in the Series VS. the Islanders AHL team to win 4-3. They're currently still alive, in the 3rd round. It has been a few years since they've lifted the Calder Cup. Updates on that.

The Syracuse Crunch Win the Calder Cup. They Defeat the Houston Aeros in 5 games. Tyler Johnson 'Assistant Captain' was the Playoff MVP with 23 points, 14 goals in 22 games. Many other players were great to, including Goalie Petr Mrazek who posted a 16-3-3 record with a 1.64 GAA and a .938 SV% through 22 games played. This is our 2nd Championship in the last 4 years and 2nd in Crunch History, we've won 3 total though. Great job boys!

Draft and Off-Season Report

Lightning Trade Pominville, Lindback at Deadline Bring Severson, picks in

tumblr_m62xu02iTk1qzvvk7o1_500.jpg

Damon is a Great Puck moving Two-Way Defenceman. He's a good kid.

Before we get to our Selections(None in top 15 but we felt like we still got some quality players) let's get to the trades:

:rangers

Jason Pominville (32 Years Old, 2nd Line Forward, 84 Overall)

:bolts

Rangers 2017 1st Round Pick
Rangers 2017 3rd Round Pick

Jason did good for us in his time here, we needed to make more cap space available. He still had 2 years left on his deal at $5,800,000. 2nd trade:

:devils

Anders Lindback (28 Years Old, Starting Goaltender, 84 Overall)
Tampa's 2019 1st Round Pick

:bolts

Damon Severson (22 Years Old, Minor Leaguer, 68 Overall, 4 Stars)
New Jersey's 2016 3rd Round Pick (61st Overall)
New Jersey's 2017 1st Round Pick

This one was a hard trade to make, Anders has been a great goalie for us and a quality guy for us on and off the ice. We needed to clear more cap space, as much as we could, while getting a fair return. And have Petr Mrazek ready to make the Jump to the NHL and have Oscar Dansk already here, with experience. We're banking on us still being a good team in '19 and New Jersey hasn't been doing great just yet, so I was hoping the 1st will be high(er). They didn't have a Decent Goalie but now they have a well experienced solid one, in Lindback. We brought in a great young kid in Damon. He impressed in his 1st full AHL year last year and had great junior success. We wish the very best to Jason and Anders with there new Clubs. We made 3 notable Selections this Draft, Including 22nd Overall, which was Toronto's. We loaded up more on Defence, we felt like the cupboard was bear after are young prospects in the AHL. Here they are:

2016 1st Round Pick - 22nd Overall - Rocky Rome - Defenceman - 3 1/2 Stars
2016 2nd Round Pick - 58th Overall - Kai Koistinen - Defenceman - 3 1/2 Stars
2016 3 Round Pick - 61st Overall - Tyler Wong - Forward - 3 1/2 Stars

Rocky already has a good trade value and is of high regard to most. We're happy with those 3 selections but all the depth selections made that could possibly turn out to be something good. Shifting towards the Signings. There will be alot (Alot of Minor Leaguers):

Re-Signings

Petr Mrazek - 1 Year - $1,400,000
Victor Hedman - 4 Years - $4,800,000
Nikita Kucherov - 3 Years - $5,750,000
Steven Stamkos - 7 Years - $10,500,000
Jay McClement - 1 Year - $1,000,000
Dana Tyrell - 1 Year - $2,500,000
Jack Connolly - 1 Year - $3,000,000
Andrej Sustr - 3 Years - $2,300,000
Tyler Johnson - 2 Years - $1,500,000
Richard Panik - 2 Years - $2,400,000
Brett Connolly - 1 Year - $2,505,000

Free Agent Signings

Troy Brouwer - 1 Year - $900,000

Betrayal
2020 Offseason
The Mercury News
September 10, 2020
Continued from here.

Brandon+Gormley+Phoenix+Coyotes+v+Anaheim+rTPDS0YwT5fl.jpg

Gormley was traded to the Sharks in exchange for Logan Couture.

And just like that, the San Jose Sharks are no longer the same team as they were before. Because of cap restraints, GM Flamesrule had to adjust the roster, as he needed more cap space to sign some important players in the offseason, such as James Neal, Codi Ceci, and Ted Summers. But to do that, he had to trade one of the most important players in Sharks history, Logan Couture. During the draft, GM Flamesrule traded Captain Logan Couture to the Phoenix Coyotes for #1 defenseman Brandon Gormley, who has a annual salary of 6 million, compared to Couture's 10 million. "I was very sad to trade Couture, but I had to do it" said GM Flamesrule. "I still think we'll be a great playoff team, as Pavel Radulov can fill in for Couture. We also needed a replacement for Nicklas Kronwall, as he retired this offseason."

To :sharks :
Brandon Gormley- 87 OVR

To :coyotes :
Logan Couture- 89 OVR

The Sharks didn't have a 1st or 2nd round draft pick, but they picked in every other round.

3rd Round: Max Dormack- RW
4th Round: Tyler Rosseu- LW
5th Round: Brendan Small- G
6th Round: Clark Mackie- D
7th Round: Seth Winters- C

Anyone have any tips to increase league-wide scoring? The settings I got make the gameplay very realistic (at least in my mind) and makes it tough on me when I play in the playoffs. But I sim most of the regular season and I only get about 5 or 6 guys above a point per game. I wish Crosby would have a couple of 120 pts seasons but no dice... also why are there so many fricking injuries?

I always turn off injuries as it's way too unrealistic. In my sim, there's usually only two players who hit the 100 point plateau, so I don't think you can do anything about it.

2021
Stanley Cup
Champions

seyyyyyymmyon_zpseb11bf8d.jpg

Avalanche captain Matt Duchene celebrates with goaltender Semyon Varlamov
after their double overtime win on the road in game five.

20 seasons have passed since the Colorado Avalanche last won the Stanley Cup, led back in 2001 by the likes of Joe Sackic, Ray Bourque, and Peter Forsberg. Now, in 2021, the Avs have done it again.

It was a thrilling series which had the city of Denver worried after the Carolina Hurricanes (who had home-ice advantage) took a 2-0 series lead, and then shortly after, a 3-1 series lead. But as they have shown in the past, there is absolutely no quit in this Avalanche team. After dropping game four on home ice, in overtime, Colorado won the next two games, both in overtime. Game five took over four periods of play, before Patrick Koys stepped up with another big goal to end the match in double overtime. Then, in front of their hometown fans in game six, the Avs were caught in another tight game with the Hurricanes, who also played great in this series. The score was 2-2 heading into overtime, but just 45 seconds in, another young gun stepped up for Colorado - Sam Reinhart notched the game-winning goal to force game seven. Game seven was a classic - Semyon Varlamov, who struggled in the regular season but showed up in the playoffs, put the icing on the cake of the Avs' playoff run, with a 43-save shutout performance.

Game 1: 4-1 Hurricanes Win
Game 2: 1-0 Hurricanes Win

Game 3: 2-0 Avalanche Win
Game 4: 4-3 Hurricanes OT Win
Game 5: 2-1 Avalanche 2OT Win
(Koys scored GWG)
Game 6: 3-2 Avalanche OT Win
(Reinhart scored GWG)
Game 7: 3-0 Avalanche Win

Prior to the lifting of the Stanley Cup, Colorado goaltender Semyon Varlamov was awarded with the Conn Smythe Trophy for MVP of the playoffs. He played every game for the Avalanche and collected every win. He finished the playoffs with a record of 16-9-2, a GAA of 2.03, a save percentage of .931%, and 4 shutouts. Patrick Kane led the Avalanche in playoff scoring with 24 points in 27 games, and Bryant Lyon led the whole league in goal-scoring during the playoffs with 11. Lyon and Matt Duchene were just behind Kane with 21 points each, and sophomore forward Patrick Koys had a tremendous playoffs, scoring 20 points. He had lots of huge, clutch goals, including two overtime winners.

The image of Matt Duchene kissing the Stanley Cup will now play at the end of Hockey Night in Canada's intro for the next year or so. And in case you were wondering, the first person he passed it to was Semyon Varlamov. After that Varlamov handed it to the oldest player on the team, Jeff Petry, who is 33 years old. After him, the cup cycled through the rest of the team before they all got together for a group photo.

This group knows that a few of them might not be around in Denver for much longer - top prospects Jacob Middleton, Dale Cummins and possibly even a few more look like they are ready to crack the Avalanche roster. But regardless of who stays and goes this offseason, the boys knows that they will go down in history as one of the best Colorado teams of all-time.

Captain Codi Ceci helped lead the Sharks to their successful season.

The Sharks have done it again, impressing every single NHL fan in the 2020-2021 Regular Season, going 52-25-5. This has been the first time the Sharks have hit 50 wins since GM Flamesrule took over in 2012-2013. This has also been the most successful season for GM Flamesrule to date., hitting 109 points (the 2nd most successful season was back in 2013-2014 when the Sharks hit 105 points). The Sharks dominated their division once again, winning the Pacific for the third year in a row.

"The team went really over the top this year, it has been a fun season", said captain Codi Ceci. "The locker is closer than ever, we trust one another, and on top of that, we are having success yet again. Don't be surprised to see us go far again in this year's playoffs."

There was also another first since GM Flamesrule took reign of the Sharks. Every year at the trade deadline, GM Flamesrule never stood pat, but this year he did. "I don't want to mess with the chemistry", he said. "Everyone is in their 'zone', so I don't want to disrupt that right now. I'm also happy how the tam is playing right now, so there's nothing to improve on at this moment. I'm confident in this team."

@ Deku, 2021-2022 season would be your 10th season.

You're right. One more season then, unless I really feel like doing another after.

Edit: Actually, do you guys want to see another year with Colorado, or should I start a new one now? I have an original idea in mind for my next one.

Ok, so I haven't been able to login for the past week or so. Today, I finally got those issues resolved. I'm too lazy to post about what happened, so I'll just quickly summarize.

Lost in Round 1 in 5 games to the defending Cup champion Minnesota Wild.

The San Jose Sharks won the Stanley Cup.

2014 Entry Draft
Traded up to 4th overall and selected Leon Draisaitl. Here are my picks:

4th OVR. - Leon Draisaitl, LW (54, 4 yellow *)

2014-2015 Phoenix Coyotes Lineup

*Andrighetto is a rookie who was a 2nd round pick in 2013. His shooting stats are insane.

I wanted to show our Roster's before we start the Season but before that I made one last Trade. I traded Philip-Micheal Devos (26 Years Old, 3rd Line Scorer, 80 Overall) to the Carolina Hurricanes for there 2017 2nd Round Pick. Phil was asking for to much and we didn't have any cap space or roster room available for him. Had to trade him.

Now we look to the Roster's:

Tampa Bay Lightning

* - Rookie

Nikita Kucherov (88 Overall) - Steven Stamkos (93 Overall) 'A' - Patrick Kane (87 Overall)
Jack Connolly (82 Overall) - Vinny Lecavalier (85 Overall) 'C' - Richard Panik (81 Overall)
Dana Tyrell (81 Overall) - Tyler Johnson (80 Overall) - Brett Connolly (81 Overall)
Dennis Rasmussem (79 Overall) - Jay McClement (78 Overall) - Troy Brouwer (78 Overall)

Jake Gardiner (88 Overall) - Victor Hedman (85 Overall) 'A'
Matt Carle (87 Overall) - Mark Barberio (83 Overall)
Keith Aulie (81 Overall) - Andrej Sustr (81 Overall)

Oscar Dansk (83 Overall) - Petr Mrazek (83 Overall)

A few new faces, a few new rookies but they've had lots of chemistry and success in the minors. It's a long time coming for alot of them. Hopefully they perform. We're experienced back on D, although some dropped in stats we still feel like we have a Solid D-Core. Hope our 1st line can explode again and hope Dansk continues from what was great backing-up for Lindback. He takes over the reigns (For this season) as the Starter, Mrazek has been dynamite in AHL and Junior so let's see him do well in the pros.

Syracuse Crunch (Defending Calder Cup Champs)

Ondrej Palat (77 Overall, 3 Stars) 'A' - Logan Nelson (78 Overall, 3 Stars) - Brendan Shinimin (76 Overall 2 1/2 Green Stars)
Stefan Matteau (75 Overall, 4 Stars) - Vladimir Namestikov (76 Overall, 4 Stars) 'A' - J.T. Brown (73 Overall)
Jonathan Drouin (66 Overall, 4 1/2 Stars) - Ryan Kujawinski (68 Overall, 3 1/2 Stars) - Aleksander Barkov (64 Overall, 4 Stars)
Jasper Lindsten (62 Overall, 3 1/2 Stars) - Graham Black (70 Overall, 3 1/2 Stars) - Keith Brown (62 Overall, 3 1/2 Stars)
Brody Milne (62 Overall, 3 1/2 Stars)

Scott Harrington (75 Overall, 4 Stars) 'C' - Joonas Valkonen (73 Overall, 3 1/2 Stars)
Oscar Klefbom (71 Overall, 4 Stars) - Connor Murphy (72 Overall, 4 Stars)
Slater Koekkoek (69 Overall, 4 Stars) - Damon Severson (68 Overall, 4 Stars)
Mason Geertsen (64 Overall, 3 1/2 Stars)

Alvin Marleau (66 Overall, 4 Stars) - Wyatt Hoflin (51 Overall, 4 Stars)
Richard Ullberg (69 Overall, 3 1/2 Stars)

FRANCHISE IN UPHEAVAL?

November 19, 2012

Calgary, AB - After a disappointing 5-9-2 start to the season, GM Chibi Pooky has made a bold move that could change the future of the franchise, trading struggling defenseman Dennis Wideman, bottom line winger Tim Jackman, and Boston's first round pick in the 2013 entry draft to the Pittsburgh Penguins for depth defenseman Dylan Reese and budding star winger James Neal.

"The team needed an infusion of skill up front," said Pooky in a statement. Neal will certainly provide that, along with a scoring touch that has eluded his team's top line so far this season. The team averaged just two goals per game over the first sixteen games, with only five goals combined contributed by the top line. Neal comes from Pittsburgh with four goals and four assists in seventeen games. His four goals make him the team leader in scoring.

"I know what I was brought here to do," said Neal, "and I'm ready to score." He will be counted on to boost the top line and help create space for playmaker Alex Tanguay and shooter Michael Cammalleri, as well as spark a lethargic power play that has scored a mere seven goals this season (8%), only one of which came from the first unit.

Dylan Reese is expected to contribute to the back end of the power play, replacing Wideman at the left point. He is expected to take third-pairing minutes initially, moving free agent acquisition Paul Mara to the second pair. Reese is known for his solid two-way play in all three zones.

Neal and Reese will join the team for practice tomorrow morning and are expected to play tomorrow evening when the Wild come to town.

Looks like Pooky made a smart move to send top prospect Mikael Backlund to Abbotsford. The Heat are 8-4-3 and Baertschi (5G 7A), Backlund (5G 7A), and Hanowski (2G 11A) are all near a point per game. T.J. Brodie leads the defense with 11 points (5G 6A) and +4.

James Neal scored his first goal as a Flame, but his goal, 2 hits, 2 shots, and +1 weren't enough as the Flames fell in the Battle of Alberta, 2-1.

Final Recap

I've decided it's time to call it quits on my Avs GM. It was great, but I think it's run its course. Over nine seasons, I had a record of 369-300-69. (ha, 69) If you add together regulation losses and overtime losses, my record is 369-369, so it's exactly .500. But our first two seasons were really bad, so yeah...

Year 1: 70 points, missed playoffs
Year 2: 69 points, missed playoffs
Year 3: 97 points, second round exit
Year 4: 93 points, first round exit
Year 5: 99 points, lost in finals
Year 6: 94 points, second round exit
Year 7: 82 points, missed playoffs
Year 8: 104 points, third round exit
Year 9: 99 points, won Stanley Cup

I think the best player we ever had during this GM was Bryant Lyon. In 410 career games, he scored 204 goals. He has played five years in the league, and won the Maurice Richard Trophy in all of those seasons except for his rookie year. He has a 0.49 goals per game average. Since I play with injuries off, if he plays until he's 38, he'll have played 1476 regular season games. If he keeps scoring at his current pace, he'll finish sixth on the all-time goal scoring list, with 723 goals. He would be behind only Marcel Dionne, Alex Ovechkin, Brett Hull, Gordie Howe, and Wayne Gretzky. Currently in this GM Ovechkin is 36 years old, so near the end of his career, and has 728 goals.

Matt Duchene was also great, with 738 points in 957 games. Patrick Kane has 1011 points in 1133 games, but only played three full seasons with us.

I leave this Avalanche team having set them up well for the future - Lyon is on pace to be a legend, and there are many young guns already on the team such as Patrick Koys, Jacob Middleton, Sam Reinhart, Pete Legein, Oldrich Sykora, Dale Cummins, Emmanuel Boudreau-Plouffe, goaltender Tyler Scuderi and more. Plus there are still elite talents such as Matt Duchene, Jeff Petry, Ryan Murray, and Patrick Kane. I think I truly built a superstar team here in Colorado.

I'm make the first post of my next GM later tonight.
