SHL STANLEY CUP FINALS A HEART-BREAKER

The SHL Stanley Cup Finals this year were a real thriller. In game 6, San Antonio Outlaws suffered two more injuries to add to the injury of Ryan Murray with Sven Bartschi and Mike Commodore going down.

The team won the game to tie the series 3-3.

Heading into game 7, the team's line-up looked much different than usual as the team was forced to call up Radek Faksa and Raphael Diaz to fill in the remaining roster spots.

In game 7, despite an injury plagued roster, the Outlaws came out flying.

Two minutes into the game, call-up Radek Faksa scored on a breakaway move in his first SHL playoff game.

Half-way through the first period, St. Louis fired a one-timer far-side off the post and in on a great pass from Steven Stamkos.

The team looked to have the game wrapped up half-way through the second when Jan Mursak sniped a shot high glove short-side on a 1 on 1.

But, with a minute and a half left in the 2nd, call-up Raphael Diaz turned the puck over in his own zone to Cosmos' David Clarkson, who made no mistake sniping it past Tuuka Rask.

Early in the 3rd the Outlaws suffered a penalty, and Cosmos' Jason Spezza scored on a rush from a lucky angle.

The Outlaws held of the Cosmos from that point on despite Cosmos' constant pressure, but with 9 seconds left in the game, David Clarkson fired home a rebound to tie and head game 7 into overtime.

3 minutes later, Max Talbot picked up a rebound from a Jason Spezza shot and tapped it home past Tuuka Rask.

The North Bay Cosmos are this year's Stanley Cup Champions.

Jason Spezza won the Conn Smythe.

Despite the shots being 28-17 for the Outlaws, and their fantastic first-half performance, it was not enough to take out the surging Cosmos.

The playoff's leading scorers were as follows:
Team|Player|Goals|Assist|Points
San Antonio Outlaws|Martin St.Louis|8|15|23
San Antonio Outlaws|Steven Stamkos|8|12|20
North Bay Cosmos|Jason Spezza|5|14|19

Despite this heart-breaker Gordon Bombay seemed in decent spirits:
"I said this last year when we were knocked from the playoffs. Sometimes the lucky bounces go your way, sometimes they don't. We had a great year. There's no shame in our game." - Gordon Bombay

Following the game, it was announced that GM Gordon Bombay has been re-signed with the San Antonio Outlaws for another 4 years.

I need some help building my fourth line, it's currently:

Boll - Lapierre - (Z.) Kassian

I'm thinking of keeping Kassian because he's young and can develop, but i'm looking for really hard hitters and big guys because my team isn't really that physical elsewhere.

And also, anyone has any suggestions for a good leftie sniper or somebody with a good shot to play on Crosby's right side?

I'm looking at starting as the Canucks.
I would spend the first 2-4 years going for the Cup and then maybe begin a rebuild if I lasted that long. (I always have trouble staying with one team for a long period of time)

I don't want to fleece the AI (I'll be honest, i normally do).. I'd want to keep it realistic and not trade up to get in the top 5-10 picks every year. I'd only make trades with players that are in red or on the block and only be able to trade players who had green names (the other team wants them).

Thoughts?

I've been playing on the default difficulty all my life. What doe changing the difficulty do? Does it just make trades harder or something?

As for a RW for Crosby; Kessel, Eberle, and Ovy are all good choices.

Great idea, it is much more fun to stick to as realistic as possible. I think you should still go for some players who are gray rather than red, just don't be silly and trade your 2020 1st rounder in the first year for superstars.

I was lucky enough to make moves for guys like Havlat and even Stamkos who other teams had in red for whatever reason.

Yup, this has happened to me before. Usually only with guys who are NHL/AHL tweeners or career AHlers though, which isn't all that upsetting to me.

I usually tend to tie third/fourth liners with important stats up long term, if I can get them for a low salary. Having a 79 rated defensive fast skating specialist for 800 000/year for 8 years is a great deal. Now I got him for one year, at which point he wanted twice that salary to resign.

And after drafting Lindholm - I noticed that the commentators are calling him.....Cullimore.... and they call Drouin something entirely different as well.

I lol'd. NHL is so funny some times. In NHL 12 my friend and I finished a 25 year be a gm and we made sure to write down the funniest names we came across. The best one was we drafted a 6'8 275 pound d-man named Tiny Kessel. We still laugh about it to this day. We also drafted a black Slovenian named Daniel Gretzky who ended up winning the Norris four times.

2. you got a perfect player to be competitive now
3. you got the 1st round pick which could be good and even if it's not helps you start your rebuild even before you trade your others assets.
