I've never let my beard grow for more than 2-3 weeks. Just gets way too itchy especially my neck. I don't know how seemingly like every other guy rocks one these days.
You can buy oils that help with the itchiness. The beard hairs like to draw your natural oils from the skin which contributes to the itch.

^^From the podcast..another 4000 fans if the Canes get to the 2nd round and the ventilation requirements are met.

Re: Dougie...I thought his earlier comments in the Tweet mail column kinda leaned that way, too and aligned with the old rumor about maybe wanting to be closer to family.

paraphrasing on Hamilton (around 35mins in):

“We hope we’ll have one last shot to re-sign him…”

“He may end up looking what other teams have interest…”

He gone.

Hello Tyson Barrie, Ristolainen or Dumba…

You're funny. The exact same rhetoric was used by Yzerman when Tampa and Steven Stamkos were negotiating an extension back in 2016. This is very typical GM speak. Not overtly concerned about the rhetoric from Waddell. Even if Dougie signs elsewhere, Carolina is one of the most desirable UFA destinations at the moment. Tyson Barrie would likely prefer to sign with a club that he can compete for the cup with every year. IMO he's a perfect match if Dougie goes elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure this is an exact quote:

"We're going to have a shot at signing him."

To me it sounds like Dougie is going to see what the market is, Canes will make their best offer, and if it's close enough for Dougie to take a Canes discount to stay in Carolina he comes back, otherwise, best of luck elsewhere. I suspect that eliminates the back and forth and maxes out what the Canes are willing to offer. With the remaining question being whether Dougie values being on the Canes enough to offset the difference.

This is kinda my take on it too. And I don't know the guy at all but to me if he wants to win, seems like the simplest thing to do is stay with the canes. Maybe that's rose colored glasses but any team that could throw significantly more money at him is probably a few steps further away from their window than the canes are

Is 16,000 really that much safer than 18,000?

Probably meets some arbitrary NHL benchmark.

Its a joke that they allowed us to pack in the lower bowl like we did, just so long as we didn't go over 12k.

Yeah I have a really hard time believing we are really dealing with science-based benchmarks at this point. I've been all on board with restrictions to this point, but holding 2K seats empty in the upper bowl while cramming people into the lower bowl is just asinine from any imaginable perspective. This feels more like a non-serious attempt to avoid hitting 90% capacity for the sake of optics.

You mean like having coaches “wear”masks on the bench.

It's now at a confusing point because the state has said they can fill the arena, but the NHL is pushing back. The state doesn't care that Dundon filled the lower bowl, and Dundon is meeting the NHL's limit because of ventilation concerns while they implement the ventilation improvements.

Is Dundon daring the NHL to slap his hand for obeying NC regulations on crowd size?

My thoughts exactly. And they didn't even hide it. They literally didn't sell any upper level tickets after capacity was increased. There was no attempt to hide what they were doing here. And, lets be honest here, if the league was ok with what we did on Monday, why even go through this dog and pony show of mandating the new air filtration systems when they will allow you to condense dirty air at the rate they did?

And you're right about the optics, but its literally paper pushing legal optics that they satisfied. The eye test looked like we had 18.5k in there, and thats what most who watched are always going to assume.

That was comical Monday night.

Also, seeing the crowd Monday night confirmed if I get to a playoff game this year, I'm going alone. My wife wants NO part of that even after being vaccinated.

I literally bought an upper level seat several days after the limit was increased. So that's, y'know, literally not actually true.

I think @Svechhammer meant no new tickets were added for sale in the upper bowl. By appearances it looks like that's true... the spacing of seats was at least close to identical to what we had in the regular season. It looked like the additional 6K was used to fill in the gaps in the lower bowl.

Some upper bowl tickets were available for sale after the increase, because they were never sold from the initial batch.
