Well, they say the album is almost 80 minutes of new material over 2 discs...so I'm fine with the first single being 3:19

I'm sorry but it's not very good and I knew it wouldn't be because Metallica would never write a good 3:19 song

Any decent Metallica songs is a good 6-7 minutes long

Not that bad, for a thrash number.
I'd like to hear some mixes that don't put the drums so much at the forefront, but maybe that's just me. I want more guitar and bass out of my Metallica. More solos, more duels, more instrumentals.
Still psyched for the release.

That's another good point.

I know that I was talking to my younger brother about this (I still haven't listened to it yet) and mentioned that maybe they were sort of "forced" to put this out as the first single because of it's runtime (given that the album is supposed to be ~80 minutes of music over 2 discs)

Sounds good to me. It'll be hard to live up to Death Magnetic, that album was ****ing awesome, but it sounds good so far. I look forward to the metal hipsters trashing it six ways til Sunday though.

Impressions:

1. Bad guitar tone, way too high gain and saturated.

2. Kick drum tone is obnoxious and takes up too much space in the mix.

3. Cheesy lyrics, real biting social commentary there James.

4. Aging millionaires shouldn't try to write thrash.

Pretty good tune. Production seems a little better than the last couple irritating records. Lyrics suck as expected. 11 tracks over 77 minutes left to be heard...

I liked it a lot, though im a Metallica fanboy. My only gripe is that it seemed to be the same riff through the whole song, hopefully it is just a radio edit and a full track is a bit more varied.

I did also like the drum sound a lot better and was happy that Kirk's solo wasn't filled with wah.
