Special teams had killed this team all year. They're fortunate to be where they are points wise but the PK is absolutely horrendous and something needs to change if they want to stay competitive.

People need to just take a deep breath and settle down.

This schedule (the way it is) isn't doing this team many favors.

And yes...PRACTICE time is needed. I don't give a crap what Chedda or whomever says...

if you don't get Practice time, the kinks can't be noticed and worked on.

The Devils are FORCED to work on the PP/PK in real game time which is detrimental.

I said the system sucks, as in the pk. That has nothing to do with me saying I want Ruff fired. And yea, the pk currently IS hynes hockey, so your comment about wanting to go back to hynes hockey is funny.

Hynes refused to ever change anything up and that's what's happening with the pk.

I don't know what he's telling them but there are a lot of problems with the PK, problems that practice alone won't fix.

Not too many practices left to begin with.

Someone needs to step up on the PK as well.

They miss Coleman and no one looks even close to replacing that PK wise.

all the talk about it being a young team is whatever to me... if they play to their potential and lose that’s fine as long as they improve. that isn’t what’s happening

talking about young guys is irrelevant when the penalty kill that is actually costing us games is pretty much all veterans. no ones still learning how to pk and developing on this team except mcleod.

subban, severson, kulikov, vatanen, zajac, palmieri and zacha should all know what they’re doing.

The PK was the only good thing under Hynes. This is a silly comment.

So either Ruff told Nas to do something completely then what they were doing the past 3 years on the PK that actually worked.

Or the new players haven't stepped up to replace our mainstay PKers from past seasons.

I mean I don't think it's a practice issue if they don't make adjustments. They can practice all they want, and they'd likely improve a bit, but the whole structure seems off.

Zajac is slowing down. I like McLeod but I haven't seen anything from him yet to believe he can be a top PKer.

Bratt hasn't been used much on the PK in past years so he is another I am not sure is reliable in the role.

Have they even put Nico back on the PK yet?

i'll just say it, i don't miss cangi or doc when they aren't there. these last couple of games have been a pleasure from that perspective

I like Alberts, but his lack of enthusiasm for our games definitely made me appreciate Cangi more.

the team is showing progress, which is something we really couldn’t say the last five year (including the playoff season). What needs to be fixed are easily fixable things. Might take some time, but they are fixable.

Sevs, Hughes, and Smith were three of the best 5 players on the ice. Couldn't have said that in the past 5 years except maybe one of the 5 in Hall And we're simply going to have many nights in the next 10 years where we have ALL of the top5 players on the ice.

Over the last five years, the worst PK in the league has come from Ottawa at 77%.

After today, we’re 59% on the year.
