GDT: New Jersey Devils @ Vancouver Canucks 10PM EST: Groundhog edition

The issue with me is they haven't even taken the first step towards rebuilding the offense, and it's only going to get worse when Jagr/Elias leave. They've used a grand total of two picks above the third round for forwards in the last five years (Matteau, Quenneville) and Matteau's probably topping out as a third-liner. Quenneville it's too early to tell. Every second-rounder's been used on D.

I imagine Lou is looking to trade for some young forwards up front. It's not like this stuff just happens when you need it though. It's gotta be the right move for both parties. I'm hoping something happens between now and next year.

As much as I hate Pete, maybe it's a good idea to keep him around for the remainder of the season. Let this team stink it up (which they will for certain as long as Pete is around), trade away Zids, Jagr, Brunner for whatever picks we can get, and head into a deep draft armed with a top ten pick and several other picks in the later rounds. Stock up on forwards, and if the right deal comes along where we can trade one of our young D for F then do it. That would probably be the quickest way to start restocking the forward pool.

Eberle wouldn't save the team, but he'd be a step in the right direction, and wouldn't take as long to have an impact as whoever we draft this year. We'd still be a #1 center and another top six winger away from being a solid playoff team though.

Wouldn't be a bad top six for the next couple years at least (until Cammalleri starts to decline). Throw in guys like Boucher, Matteau, Quenneville in the bottom six, and hopefully Josefson ends up taking that third line center spot, and we would be at least in a decent position up front. Of course that only requires getting Eberle, a #1 center, and a top six winger.

The fact is, one can not make up more negligent and selfish decisions than what Pete is currently doing with this roster. Peter Harrold comes in and is gifted 20 minutes a night, while Larsson and Hegs got 16 and 11 respectively despite being fantastic since called up. And people talked about how players have to "earn" their ice time. LOL.

And the irony of being shut out with 2 of our most talented offensive players healthy scratches is rather rich. All this falls on the coach.

All in all however, I was very happy with the game. It is a step in the right direction. Losing and embarrassing ourselves is the only way real changes will occur.I feel bad rooting for them to lose, but just like Harris is doing with the Sixers, sometimes you gotta endure some pain to get back to the promised land.

They can shove the first pick we are how many games in to the season and we want to give up. Get rid of **** show that runs this team and shake it up. Bring the youth back bring in more if we have too. Sit Patty, Zids, and every other underachieving moron on this team. Bring back Marty I think we miss his leadership. Make him a dam coach or something. That's it back to sleep. LOL

Two goals scored in the game and the pairing of Zid and Harrold were on the ice for both? Big surprise. Get a grip Deboer. Where's the accountability? Well, at least Schneider played well. Also noticed that Helgeson got into scrap, nice to see some toughness (despite the fact that I'm personally not that into fights), I'm really starting to like his game.

What really bothers me though is that you can really see there is not a lot of chemistry between certain linemates. No idea of where to go, who to pass to, what's the next move... etc. Sometimes they look like they don't even enjoy playing. I'd like to see them try Henrique on the first line for a few games. I don't think that would hurt us badly, considering where we are now.

i watched the first period dvd the las two and just watched about 5 minutes of last two periods


there is simply no talent on this team. sorry lou lamareillo needs drastic change and if it doesn't happen his job should be on the line . all these veterans need to go all of them

i don't think he can wait until deadline for all of the trades...i would start now. but it sucks because i have lost interest in this season already there truly is no reason to watch this hockey.... i can watch some young team lose and get behind them... i am not going to tune in and certainly not going to pay to watch patrick elias and mareck zidlickly make mens' league quality plays on the ice they both stunk tonight..

its not the chemistry these guys are old and untalented this is the hockey team.. they will lose to every good team this year. its boring to watch, its not a good product in any sense of the word and for the first time I'm kinda rooting for really bad crowds at the prudential center if that helps usher in change.. fans don't want to see this....any idiot can tell even in the miracle event this team made the playoffs they would most certainly go out in 4 or 5 games....its not worth it this is not a good team, accept it and do something about it or retire lou

The good thing is if we keep this up over the course of the season we're definitely getting a decent pick. Many of the teams below us are trending in the right direction and we're doing the opposite after our decent opening three games

You laugh now, however, a great pick may save this organization from the harm that Lou and Conte have done over the past several years with our offense. Our forward prospects are a bunch of future 3rd and 4th liners it's dam scary.
