Stop extrapolating these past 15 games, of which he's looked good in quite a number of them, to make it seem like we're doomed to have Cory has our starter for the next 7 years. He sunk 4 games ago? The defense has been pedestrian at best (with Zids and Salvador being two heavy anchors), we've given up the most penalties in the league, our PK is a nightmare, and our forwards have been terrible too.

There's being critical of a player and then there's straight up giving up on them.

The goaltending is not the issue right now. It's not bailing them out but Debeor really needs to consider a tweak on the back line don't be surprised if we see mark Fraser. Pete will double down in the slow stay at home guys

He obviously has the ability to turn it around, I'm not saying he doesn't. But for all the criticism the coach gets - you need to look at the goalie giving up 4 goals a night as well. He isn't helping.

Exactly. There is a losing mentality that has formed in that locker room and its permeated all over the organization. They need a new voice. This just isn't working at all anymore.

This isn't the prettiest group of players, but it is also far from being in the same conversation as being near the group that is actually among the worst

The potential on this team is far more than what it's shown

I've defended Pete for a long time, but eventually something has to be done. I still think our issues are more roster based than coaching, but there's only so much losing you can do before needing to make a change. It's looking like we're there.

I still don't look at Pete specifically for these struggles, but it's time to start looking at other options, this isn't working anymore - I feel as if I've had enough patience with this as well, but it's time

It sucks, because good Elias is just a joy to watch. It's 1/2 a rung below nasty Elias. When he got mad, it was just awesome. He's such a great Devil.

We have begun eulogizing all these players, but really, they could find some spark and health...somewhere. Let's Go Devils!

I get sad watching Patty these days, he just isn't the same player anymore.

Pete seems deflated as if he has nothing more to offer

He isn't on the hook for much of this, however a new breath of fresh air seems as if it may be in store more and more by the day

We are in a bit of a transition as a team, understood, however the energy level and desire just doesn't seem to be there on a consistent basis and this has carried on for the better part of the past year

He's every bit as responsible for this crap-fest as Lou is. Lou maybe a bit more.

But theyre in this together. If Deboer goes, Lou needs to be fired this offseason. Fired.

I agree with the sentiment that the talent is there, injuries really derailed the team but when they're healthy it's actually a decent squad on paper. They're underachieving badly.

Pete is finished and he wants to be finished.

Problem is that Lou has yet to determine himself that Pete is finished.

If Lou doesn't want to fire him and let him go to Toronto then kick Pete upstairs, have him be deputy GM and just lock him in an office until his contract runs out.

Lou won't ever be fired...

Maybe he'd be "encouraged" to step down as the GM but remain as the Devils President, though....

Eventually he's going to slip and say "tough building" after a loss at the Rock.

He might just do that after tomorrow tbh cause he IS gonna get the **** booed out of him and so will the team if they have another dead *** performance.

That's true, but we may never be healthy this year. The fact is we're making the same mistakes this year that we made last year. Idiotic turnovers, blown coverages, etc. Part of that is the talent and IQ level of the players, but eventually it does come back to the coach. It's a lot easier to change coaches than it is to trade half the team.

Hardly

It doesn't take a short period of time for an organization to recoup from losing their top 3 offensive players in a 1 year span. We've had to patch those holes the best we could with what was available while still trying to remain competitive. We've remained competitive, but not for the standard expected of this organization. It was either patch those holes slowly over time and struggle for several years or do what we've done. I don't want to imagine what this place or our fanbase would look like if we took the former.

How would the following teams look after losing these guys in the same period?

Pens: Crosby, Malkin, Kunitz
Hawks: Kane, Toews, Sharp
Kings: Kopitar, Carter, Williams
Blues: Steen, Oshie, Backes
Bruins: Krejci, Bergeron, Lucic

and son on, you get the point, I'd hope.

Going against the tide here.

But Cam's presence was a huge difference tonight. Similarly we need Rico back.

Willing to wait until Henrique is back with a few games under his belt before throwing Deboer overboard.

The few Natives that show up tomorrow will be restless. Expecting the cats to be calling.

THATS my goalie. Yes he has not played well but at least he is accountable.
