Wrong.
Only a fraction of the concession spend is recognizable revenues to the owners.
Vast majority of money goes to Aramark who prepay a lump sum to the Devils for the right to sell their products in The Rock.

The Devils may get a very small % commission but $15 towards a beer & a pretzel is a blip on the screen and not worth depriving yourself of enjoying Devils hockey live.

The Devils make their $$ on ticket sales ordered at the box office, TM or through the team. Not through StubHub.

Staying home hurts the fan himself if he truly enjoys attending games live, since the fan has a method of doing so without buying tickets to the team if they want to prove a point.

Okay, I agree with that.

However, it sounds a lot worse from an organizational standpoint when you are playing a song that is pretty much getting everyone to say "You Suck!". If the fans do that on their own, then so be it, but it sounds much much worse when the goal song promotes the song, even if they aren't directly telling them to say that.

all this for a song , if the devils changed the song without a vote (real or fake) fans would have flipped out so either way new management cant win in this situation. They should just blow the goal horn for every goal they score, one goal=1 horn blast, 2nd goal=2 horn blasts etc.....

Well, first, a free ticket is entirely different than buying one off of stubub/craigslist/whatever. At this point, I'd take a free ticket and not buy anything at the game. But that could change if they rig the final vote and we end up with Monster Truck/Whip as the goal song.

The new management took something that could have actually been a positive, get-the-fans-involved, type of thing and turned it into a rushed, hey-the-season-already-started, draconian sham that, assuming SNA wins, doesn't really solve the "problem" they tried to fix in the first place (the "you suck").

So what happens, after 5 or 10 games of SNA (or whatever "wins"), if there's a loud crescendo of "you sucks"'s with each goal? Change it again?

I'm dreading the answer quite honestly (especially if Bon Jovi and the other two songs are indiciative of what the Devils would pick if left to their own devices)...this isn't going to end Saturday by a longshot.

Before they do that they're going to try everything they can to drown out 'you suck' though...play the song lyrics faster, the music louder, etc. Of course if they do take SNA away the boos'll start again and probably louder than before. Just let the fans have what they want for crying out loud, it's not a vulgar four-letter word, and they're not promoting a sexual predator with this song.
