Sadly, this is what I'm afraid of. Maybe Columbus is NOT a major league city and someday we'll be without BOTH the Crew and the NHL. Even though a majority of citizens think that, we're fortunate the city leaders don't believe it.
And that's what frustrates me so much. I pay extra taxes so that Cleveland can have the Browns, Indians and Cavs, and as an Ohio resident I pay state taxes, some of which go to the Ohio State University.
Columbus sports fans get to enjoy all of those, and the contributions of those in Hamilton County which lets stations like 97.1 talk about the Reds and Bengals.
I hate to get political, but talk about living in a socialist utopia. Get everybody else to pay for your entertainment, then balk at the concept of contributing anything back to the rest of the state...
I've long wanted to move to Columbus, it's no secret. But the noise that the vocal minority makes really frustrates me.
(Btw, please don't try the "But the Buckeyes athletic department is profitable and doesn't accept tax money" argument that somebody tried on Twitter. It's hard to have an athletic department without a school and tOSU is a land grant university, it wouldn't exist without public funds...)
