Laguna Beach
The Hills
General Hospital (not a series, but a serial)
The Bold And The Beautiful (see above)

I got hooked on GH when I was 13. Robert Scorpio, Sean Donely, Anna Devane, Frisco Jones. It was all secret agent stuff and nothing like soap operas generally had before. I remember taping the week's episodes and then sitting down Sunday afternoon and watching five straight. Binge watching before it even had a name.

Yeah, that’s probably why I think that. Grampa Simpson liked that show.

Obligatory:

I will say, I am genuinely surprised how many people on here enjoy soaps. It's a genre I've never even considered getting into, but apparently I'm the one missing out.

I watched all of Burn Notice on amazon prime in like a month. I think I like it, or it was good background noise. I have told no one I know in real life about that binge watch.

It was a favorite of older people (like Jeopardy), and jokes have been made about that (ex. The Simpsons), but you didn't need to be old to enjoy it (like Jeopardy). You just had to appreciate more cerebral entertainment. Obviously, the above poster was a smart, thoughtful kid if he was watching Matlock after school while all of his friends were watching cartoons ;).
LOL...can you go back in time and tell that to my sister's friends (a group of older girls) who laughed at me when they came over and saw I was watching Matlock?

Recently, I have been watching this sitcom "Young and Hungry" not sure if I should be embarrassed about it or not. Also, I really like "8 Simple Rules". I really need NHL and NBA to restart again.

I was going to say Outer Banks....but upon reflection that show sucked. Burn Notice is a good one. My wife hated Fiona though. Called her rat face.

My wife and I have been obsessed with the Challenge for like 12 years now. Being so busy it's one of the only things we make time to watch together anymore. We love reminiscing about great moments and the lore, it's all very embarassing.

Really hoping Leroy can finally bring home a W this season tho

My first season was War of the Worlds... and I know all about CT being booted twice, the Bananas backpack, Kenny and Evan, poor Tonya. I remember laughing at my older sister for watching the show when MTV first came to Canada when I was in high school.

I remember watching the real world a number of years ago. I think it was the first season of the show, so this was early 90’s I guess. There was one guy on that show who was a real ass. I think his name was Puck or something. Just caused lots of trouble in the house from what I remember.

In the oldest seasons they used to all be on big teams, like 2 or 3 teams for the whole cast. They've sorta gotten away from that. I remember one season they selected a team captain, and only later it was revealed the captain had to go in elimination anytime the team lost. One team had Derrick as a captain, dude went in every elimination all season and only finally lost one episode before the finale. Heartbreaking.

I love everytime TJ is disappointed and angry when someone quits. Never gets old. Best host ever.

One of the good things about the Challenge is they really respect their history. I love when they do Challenge trivia. At other points, they'll give flashbacks to past relevant eliminations or whatever. It really helps it feel like a continuous sport.

Kenny and Evan...yeah things were different back then lol. Nowadays they're far more strict on the partying. Don't see many instances of CT coldcocking a rival anymore.

The Bananas backpack was incredible to see for the first time, but my favourite elimination shocker was the Redemption House reveal. There was one season where Wes had played an absolutely perfect game. He was right before the final and had engineered everything beautifully, he was coasting. But then TJ unveiled the existence of a Redemption House for the first time. Wes had gotten Bananas eliminated previously, but now he returned with a vengeance. Johnny being reintroduced in the game totally flipped the balance of power and Wes ended up losing. I admit to being a Wes fan and felt like he got screwed by rule changes. But you can never feel safe on the Challenge and it was a great moment.

Yeah, that was the season (San Fran) with Pedro Zamora who died of AIDS shortly after the season wrapped. Puck was a real piece of work. Also on that season was Rachel Campos Duffy. I still think that was the best RW season of all time.
