Why would the Oilers want to hold back a player who wants to go? There's no fathomable reason behind that. I'm assuming this injury came up at the year end physicals, hence why it was announced after he had committed. It's not like he will be known as a guy who left Russia high and dry when he was able to go. He was injured. Different story entirely. The tinfoil hat is a reference to this conspiracy theory that the Oilers are trying to ruin Yakupov's development.
