In general a bit overplayed for my taste, I'd like a simpler version... but the tapping part was awesome!!! :yo:

I'll deliver a blonde for a blonde: some Battle Beast.

And since others are sharing their guitar gear, why not me? I'm an Ibanez guy - mostly because my pinky finger is about an inch shorter than most peoples', so I have to take all the help that a thin neck can provide.

Ibanez RG1570, RG570 & RG520
Ibanez AW140 acoustic
Squier Bullet Strat (my 1st guitar, can't sell)
Engl Thunder 50 head w/ Marshall 1936 cab (2x12")
Boss GT-6
PocketPOD and some Zoom multieffect for home rehearsing

Haven't gigged or even played that much in years though. Too much work and renovating the house in the way.

Agreed. Was fairly overplayed. I just like when someone throws in their own version of a standard rock tune like Highway Star.

Nice looking gear. Particularly your Amplification section there. The 1936's have the V30's correct? What do you think about the ENGL? I was considering one at one point not too long ago.

And good luck on the Reno's...I feel your pain.

Thanks! Yes, V30's - that and the oversized cabinet was the reason I ended up with the 1936. Was considering a Framus but luckily this one came up for a good price. It is a good match with the Engl - the amp itself produces a very crisp and sharp sound and can supply a great amount of distortion, but the 1936 brings some depth and more low-end to the sound (due to being oversize). Added to that, thanks to the bigger size it doesn't look stupid like many standard 2x12" cabs.

I like the tones of this setup. It provides me a nice 80's p***y metal sound which I find just about perfect. I also had a Peavey Valveking 30W combo earlier (easier to gig with) but I preferred the Engl+1936 so much that I rather sacrificed my back than the sound and sold the Valveking. It wasn't bad at all, just not that good for my tastes.

I don't mind the reno's actually, but the constant lack of time makes them a bit exhausting... so thanks. 1-2 more years and they should be done for a good while. :)

So you enjoy own versions of old rock tunes? Well, in that case let me introduce you to Steve'n'Seagulls! (They have a gig in my hometown on Friday btw.) :D

Any band with Davey Crockett tails, Banjos, and spoons in it is awesome in my books!

BTW, the ValveKing 112 with a V30 replacing that Peavey stock speaker has some pretty sweet tone!

You can't go wrong with some old Neil Young. This is just a stunning rendition. Probably my favourite one.

Thanks for reminding me man. One of my favorite song writers. I ventured into enemy territory a few years ago and saw NY at the saddle dome. Twas a great show. On the beach is definitely in my top 5 albums of all time.

Huge Neil Young fan here, have been for years. I'm a walking encyclopedia of Young. Nice to see On the Beach get its dues. It was ahead of its time. At the time it was part of the dissed "Ditch trilogy" where even Neils record label figured he was mailing it in again.

But man if you get into those albums. Also nice to see such people as Thom Yorke later discover Youngs catalog and that he hit Yorkes characteristic intonation decades before. Yorke was fascinated with that and was unfamiliar with NY when a fan told him he sounds like Neil. Yorke had actually responded; "Who is Neil young" much to his later embarrassment.

Neil has been an inspiration for so many, so many musical veins, so many colloborations. Seen him tons, see him every chance I get. Favorite was Ambleside Beach concert, North Shore Vancouver ON THE BEACH! with Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow. Doesn't get better.

Favorite alltime Live is Live Rust. look out Roadeyes!!!

Chick Corea, King Crimson and Neil Young I can get down with at certain times.

Speaking of the fusion:

if you've been to the Edmonton Folk Fest, then you're probably familiar with Alberta artist Bill Bourne. I believe he has played every Ed Folk Fest (which is regarded as one of the best Folk Fests in the World) since it's inception.

I've read a bit about the ditch trilogy. Never liked the other 2 albums the way I do on the beach. I have nys discography on iTunes and I've listened to most albums 10 times, or so, but on the beach just really speaks to me. Over 60 listens so far. That must have been a sweet show on the beach in vancouver.

I've mainly posted canadian punk and metal, but I'm a big fan of all canadian music. Joni Mitchell, the hip, rush, the new pornographers, theweakerthans, Serena Ryder. There is so much amazing canadian music. Definitely something for everyone.

I know you've probably all heard this song, but I just can't get enough of this song or the band right now. Still think this would have made an excellent goal song. That guitar riff sounds great loud.

On the Beach album clicked for me at the time. I was a teen then, NY always calmed me and otherwise my speed was 100mph back then. Needed something to relax. What I loved about that album is how vulnerable NY allowed himself to be on that album (or the whole time period) but on that one its like he let you in, you were with Neil and his musings on the beach. The album cover helped with that as well. Tonights the Night of course is darker. its s different trip. But noteworthy as well. I like Zuma, although its disconnected.

So many good songs On the Beach and with stylings that have stood the test of time and are continually revisited. Something about that album threads together even though the songs are so different.

Just curious if you ever got into Max Webster at all. People that were listening to Rush at the time caught onto that band as well. It was pretty eclectic at the time.

Frank Marino (Mahogany Rush) interesting to check out as well.

Of course many others but they were more well known, and more pop.

Here you go, best of both worlds for Max:

And I've been a Frank Marino fan since I was 15, wore out this out to the bone:

Figured you'd know about Frank Marino. Too bad theres not more surviving quality footage of the concerts.

Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush imo was better. Had a signature sound to it rather than Frank just playing axeman. (But he could sure play)

Here's one that possibly a couple of guitar/music types might be familiar with. Tubular Bells. Mike Oldfield. The Exorcist theme.

As the movie goes:

As to the original song and intention. I defy anyone not to like this ****:
