Hey I like Tom's BBQ! The one near Baseline and Mill is still open and has been for at least 20 years now so apparently a lot of people like it. I had no idea it's supposed to be "Chicago style" or whatever though.
It's a lot tougher in the off-season but still you should be able to find something at any of the sports stores in the malls. Closest to you would be the "outdoor mall" Tempe Marketplace. I imagine you'd find something at Fashion Square or Chandler Fashion Mall as well. Surprisingly I've actually had luck at Target a few times but that's usually during season. Best selection is by far the Coyotes Den in the arena but as you've already experienced they can be closed at random times. Always call first!!
I know, to each their own, but I'm southern (sort of), and 'my' style of bbq place (Sonny's, Woody's. Both FL based chains - also a small cinder block shack in Oviedo, FL called 'Charles the Boss of the Hog') wasn't to be found in Arizona until Famous Dave's showed up. You couldn't even get sweet tea here either until Cracker Barrel showed up - strange thing to miss, but I did. And of course it's everywhere now and I'm trying to not drink so much of it....

Considering the store doesn't come to your door you can absolutely get closer but we digress. The point is the dude clearly asked for local recommendations as I'm sure he's more than aware of the online nhl store already.
Especially if you want the logo to be noticeably off center!
Westgate is indeed quite a nice place, but because I lived on the east side when I lived in the valley, it was a pain in the ass to get to and from. Tempe Marketplace is also quite a nice place, it's just that the Coyotes' arena isn't there.
Imagine the arena at Tempe Marketplace... uhhhhh... I'll be in my bunk...

Speaking of which..... the northern most interchange at the I-10 is nearly complete. Paving going south from there is ongoing.

Just in time for the season to start it could finish? They haven't set a definitive date yet right? Just sometime this year? Time's running out!

They're still saying the freeway itself will open "late 2019" with all construction completed in 2020.
It's coming along nicely. Most of it is paved, lights and signs have been installed. The way it looks, the area around the casino will be the last to be completed.
Man that should seriously help alleviate the I10 congestion.
