Yeah, they were trying to work it out and see if it would work. That's when Vince suggested a police escort and Jericho going straight to the ring from the vehicle, where the Zayn comment came from.

and Zayn's right -- if you watch it back, it's pretty basic, but so was Hogan/Rock at WM18 and that's one of the greatest matches of all time. Not comparing the two, but sometimes a hot crowd and two great wrestlers keeping it simple is all a match needs, especially considering the two never had any history together.

Who knew that over exposure of matches and wrestlers was bad? :sarcasm:

I still absolutely loved the Hogan-Sting buildup to their match, Sting didn't even wrestle for the entire year pretty much.

Listening to the Jericho-Bryan podcast and I’m laughing at Jericho’s edits when he transitions into advertisements lol

- Big Cass is in hot water for going off script in the midget impersonator segment last week and ignoring a directive that came from officials, and Vince McMahon himself. Cass was supposed to end the beat down on the midget impersonator with a big boot and leave it at that, but Cass suggested he continue the beat down afterwards. Officials said no. Cass went to Vince, who also said no. Cass ignored it and improvised laying more punches on the impersonator after the big boot despite getting the idea rejected by everyone and has heat for it.

- Meltzer says Jericho was told he'd be doing the casket match at GRR and then told Vince that he's going to go to NJPW and do Dominion. Shortly after, Jericho was told the prince requested Rusev in the casket match and that Jericho would be in the Royal Rumble. Neither Jericho nor Meltzer believe the prince requested Rusev in the match, though, and it was just Vince changing it again.

also pretty good chance this came from Jericho who just told Meltzer since Jericho supposedly feeds Meltzer info from time to time.

I kind of understand Cass' desire to do more in that spot but when you're told no repeatedly, you got to stick to the script when you're not afforded improvisation privileges.

It’s one thing to improv lines in a promo and it’s another to do what Cass did imo

Definitely especially when it comes to physical ad-libs with someone that is not a regular. I mean, even if it was a regular doing that would be wrong on many levels but it's worse to put someone getting a spot opportunity into that position.

Ton of issues. You are doing the above, and you are also really screwing up the timing of the show.

The timing is even more important on Smackdown because they don’t have overrun. They have to hard cut at 10.

Macho was famous for wanting to have his matches layed out move-for-move as well. Just personal preference, imo.
The match with Steamboat that you can still argue IMO is the best Mania match ever (the HBK-Taker matches and Austin-Bret would probably be my picks but it's an acceptable argument) was planned out move for move. Calling matches in the ring is overrated because if you plan it out ahead of time and the match is great that's what counts. I always hated people who knocked DDP for that but the fact was his matches usually delivered. Hell he had Goldberg's best ever match (which took place after the Hogan-Warrior match that may have been the worst match of all time).

ild be exited if he dint live in chicago and he didnt have a ufc fight comming soon.

All In is 3 months after UFC in Chicago, so who knows what his situation will be by then? I wish UFC was a different day so I could cheer him on; I’ll be at the Liz Phair concert across town that night. Either way, just him being at One Hour Tees is going to make that weekend surpass the buzz surrounding October 2017. Couldn’t go two blocks without seeing NJPW logos and Pentagon Jr shirts.

how does it works if he gets his ass kicked...?
i know there are medical suspensions and such.. do they apply in pro wrestling?
if so how long does it take to be cleared from a knock out?

They don’t apply in wrestling unless it’s the state of New York, I believe.

Feeds him as in leaking runours and backstage stuff? Can't Jericho get into a lot of trouble for this with management and other wrestlers?
Feeds him news regarding himself iirc. The two are close.

So, Meltzer having the scoop of the changes regarding the casket match at GRR probably came directly from Jericho.

Some WWE business notes:

- UFC to ESPN deal is good news for WWE since they're the higher rated show and their ratings have stopped the declining trend recently.

- WWE Network is only at 40-50% of what they expected by now.

- With massive TV rights increases, the company is essentially "idiot-proof" for the next little while in terms of business.

- They're expecting to set an earnings record this year and 2020 will be so far ahead of any other year in company history. They'll be at the point where they really won't have to constantly create intriguing matches or listen full-on to the consumer and their immediate wants.

**

Also, Neville's contract has been frozen, so he's essentially stuck.

When it finally comes out the WWE is fudging their numbers, I won't be shocked one bit. Attendance is down, they offer so many absurd free WWE Network subscriptions just to keep active subscribers, tv ratings go lower and lower each day, etc.

I understand a big TV deal can get them to a safe spot, but I just don't buy it's all rainbows and sunshine when there are so many glaring weaknesses right in front. In the last year of WWE Network subs, I paid for 4 months, got 6 months for 1.98 (two 99 cent offers), and was unsubscribed for 2 months. I'm not even trying to rip the WWE off. 9.99 is so stinking cheap it's hard not to subscribe. But if that's my story, I cannot imagine others. My investment of $41.94 has to be similar to a lot of other users. Similar to lower attendance each and every night. Those have to take a chunk of change out of the absurd tv deals.

With Jericho, a lot of the stuff is mostly Meltzer being given the full story after the fact opposed to leaking storylines and whatnot. It's not leaking rumours, more reporting facts. You'll never get into trouble with stuff like that.

And it's not like Jericho and Meltzer are a secret or anything, they've been good friends since the early 90s. Meltzer is close with a lot of wrestlers, it's just a side effect of his job. Even Vince used to call and talk to him a lot in the past, HHH is friendly toward him too.
