phillips, kostka and gomez are still on the roster right at the top. not that it matters that much since they aren't big UFAs and they end up on UFA list anyway but it's against the rules we've laid out.

also, it doesn't need to be done yet but when the expansion draft comes, you'll need to have everyone, including prospects, listed that you have exposed. including guys like claesson and wikstrand.

Fixed, added prospects as well. If anything else needs changed / fixed if I made a mistake I'll fix it ASAP

that is just two pro seasons. he's exempt. not 3 (or more) seasons, as the 3rd season would start after the expansion draft. same reason why zadorov is exempt. has played 2 pro seasons, going into his 3rd pro season 16-17.

Ah! Thank you. I think the fact the expansion draft in our game is a year before the actual one is constantly throwing me off. Appreciate being patient with me.

no problem.

akeson, fraser, frattin, dziurzynski and varone are UFAs. expansion teams can't take them so they can't be on unprotected list (can't be protected either).

also marcus högberg is eligible for expansion draft. he's not under contract but teams have rights for european players for 4 seasons after they've been drafted. högberg has played 3 pro seasons.

i'll take a close look at every team before the expansion draft but i think it's good after you've fixed those but not 100% sure. seems to be pretty similar as our projections iirc.

Senators stuff is up, I think I did it right. Might have messed up regarding the protection stuff.

Ottawa Senators

Nice tweaks to the template, I'm definitely going to incorporate some of those into mine later.

We might want to make a shared spreadsheet for the expansion draft instead of cluttering up our team rosters too much with protected and unprotected players. Just throwing it out there.

That will also help the expansion GMs being able to sort through the data faster.

Could be a spreadsheet with all free agents, all unprotected players, etc.

i like the idea. as long as expansion teams keep track of who they take and make sure player is taken from each team, it should be helpful to have them in one list.

well maybe not one list as it would be so damn long. i guess we could remove the more marginal players from it but then have all of those on teams individual exposed list.

i'll have only one list for UFA, except for the final wave where i separate Fs, Ds and Gs as there are so many of them.

Working on the Jets protected/exposed players right now.

If I'm reading the rules correctly. Marko Dano would not be exempt from the draft correct? 2013 Draft pick who played in the KHL for the 12/13 and 13/14 seasons. And has now played in the AHL and NHL for 14/15 and 15/16 seasons.

Can anyone point me in the direction of where I can find the players a team holds to rights to but haven't signed?

i'm not sure if there's a such place for all teams. might have to use google and find it for individual teams. hf's main page links to team pages that has many draft prospects but i'm not 100% sure if all are there.

personally, i just open a tab for draft picks (click here to see sabres) and teams capfriendly page and compare players that have been drafted but not signed. europeans and college players are under team control for 4 years. CHL draftees for 2 years.

of course that doesn't necessarily account for all players. a guy like hudson fasching isn't on draft list and wouldn't have been on capfriendly either if he hadn't signed recently.

I use HF prospect lists to start, but they aren't always up to date and some non-qualified guys are still on there, but they usually have the notable players listed who are NCAA, Euro, Junior etc.

I know it's in the rules and I should understand it, but how does the khl experience work into the expansion rules?

Mostly just cafe about kuznetsov. I am assuming based on draft year + khl + 2 nhl seasons he has to be protected?

every year when a player has played in the KHL for 10 or more games count as a professional season. so yes, kuznetsov has to be protected.

even if KHL games didn't count, he would need to be protected since this is his 3rd NHL season.

Nice to see IC's contacts have been informed. Get some new blood in, fill all the spots so nobody manages two teams like last time.

I'm not 100% on whether cap percentage requirements are met for my exposed list but it's close. Could be a wee bit short. I'll make sure before the draft.
