I was hoping Barzal would chill with the secondary assists enough for Mitch to catch him this year for....personal reasons. We're simply going to run out of time with only 5 games left. Either way, over the last 63 games:

63GP/20G/41A/61Pts./+9 (16:38 aTOI)
63GP/17G/48A/65Pts./-5 (18:10 aTOI)

Here's a hint on who's who....the better player, producing at a similar level with far less ice time is......Magical.

We need this confirmed by Minus Mitch

Barzal's EVP/60 is quite a bit higher than Marner's (it's not far from Matthews', actually) but Marner is one of the best PP producers in the entire League (3rd in PPP/60 among players with 1:00+ PP TOI/G and 30+ GP).

In terms of overall P/60, Barzal is 10th, Marner is 20th, and Matthews is 26th.

Marner is having an outstanding 2nd half of the season spearheading the Leafs to success.

He is real hot right now and hopefully he can carry this on through playoffs.

Marner is now tied for #34th in NHL scoring.

Do you still believe Brown is a better goal scorer / finisher?

Always feels like a backhanded compliment.

He's magic, Mess.

Yup "Magic" Mitch is doing his best "Brilliant" Barzal impersonation.

It's certainly impressive that a red hot Marner @ [.87 PPG] has closed the gap on Barzal @ [1.01 PPG] pace on the season.

If Marner didn't struggle early on, we might be having a photo finish here statistically & if Marner was in his rookie season he would certainly be giving Barzal a run for his money for the Calder alright.

Props to Mitch on his season, as he is having a barzalion like 2nd half.

Passive aggressiveness is ugly, Mess. And God doesn't like ugly.

Again, we'll have to use the playoff performances as a tie breaker.

Anyone want to make bets on Marner or Barzal next season? That Islanders team will crack down on D next year. They area joke defensively.

Classic Mess... always tries to diminish Marner by comparing him to someone else or by referencing specific timeframes. :help:

Marner could score 90 goals and 100 assists and Mess would use Gretzky to diminish him.

Barzal is one of the reasons they are terrible defensively. A one way player who doesnt have much desire to play in his zone, and is a turnover machine(just ask Dermott).

They cannot continue to play that way. Their GA is so terrible. And Barzal gets a lot more TOI.

I could care less how many points Barzal puts up. The Leafs will continue to be one of the best teams in the league with Marner being a huge part why, Barzal and the Isles will continue to hemorrhage goals at Sabre like rates and score even less without Johnny T.

The fact that there are still posters on here that don't get behind a 20 year old stud leading our team in scoring is insane. Not to mention envying someone on the Islanders. The f***ing Islanders!

How many times have I seen you get behind "200 ft. hockey" and "defense wins championships" rhetoric?

You honestly think Barzal represents either of these? Right now, he's doing it full run and gun style with no regard whatsoever for his play away from the puck.

What a puzzling poster you are.

If Barzal played for Babcock, Babcock would have him on the 4th line .... Barzal can get away playing NO DEFENSE on the Islanders .... But on the leafs, no way, jose.

You are forgetting that Marner plays a 200 ft. game ----- he is thought to play 2-Dimensional game, and I would rather have someone who scores 70-75 points in season AND plays THE 2-WAY GAME, than, Having a person who scores 80-83 points a season, AND PLAYS NOO DEFENSE.

Also, I don't remember Barzal playing with linemates as trash as Komarov / Martin for half the season.

Anders Lee - Barzal - Eberle, is a lot better than playing with Komarov and Martin for half the season.
