What a stupid tweet and it's not even correct. Rantanen scored 50 goals in the last 2 seasons and Nylander scored 38. Math is hard right? Head scratcher is right. Panarin has 60 and Marchand has 64. That guy is talking out of his *** lmao. Too lazy to check the rest but I'm pretty sure Nylander didn't score more goals than any of them.
Don't believe everything you read on the internet kid.

Tweet was about last season+ current one.

I found Barzal has one less than Nylander, I think you’re right, every single other one has more than him.

When it's Rantanen vs Marner points and PPG is the argument that matters but when it's Mack vs Matthews goalscoring seems to be the argument that matter the most. :dunno:

Leaf fans also use 5v5 stats to boost their player yet ignore it when it paints another player in a better light

Ok, so why post the graphic about all those other players? Are you saying Nylander is better than Panarin, Eichel or Crosby?

Pretty sure Nylander's dog is better than Eichel at this point in time.

Contracts aside it isnt close

Marner has produced away from Matthews (at almost a ppg rate) while Rantanen absolutely cannot score anything near PPG away from MacKinnon

Rantanen is as good as MacKinnon makes him

And how exactly do you know this?

Rants. His talent is already clear. But his style of play is much more unique. Such a great player.

Hmm........

POINTS
2020/21: Marner 62, Rantanen 52 (1.24 p/gp vs. 1.21).
2019/20: Marner 67, Rantanen 41 (1.14 p/gp to 0.98)
2018/19: Marner 94, Rantanen 87 (Rantanen out-paces Marner slightly, 1.15 to 1.18).
2017/18: Rantanen 84, Marner 69 (1.04 to 0.84)
2016/17: Marner 61, Rantanen 38 (0.79 to 0.51)

So, uh, I know who SHOULD be leading this poll. :)

IMO both are in ideal situations playing top minutes and with elite talent, but i think Rantanen is a bit less dependent on that, it's close.

Why did you say Rantanen out paces Marner slightly in 18/19 but not make the same point this year?

Correct, they pretty much equal outside of Rantanen rookie year (on 2 goals per game, 50 points season Colorardo team)

How many times does Marner have to outproduce Rants??

No idea.

He doesn't get nearly enough respect. At age 23, he's already had a 94 point season, followed by last year's 93 point pace, and this year, he's 3rd in the league in scoring, pacing for 102 points. He's KILLER, but polls like this show how little non Leaf fans think of him. Hell, even some Leaf fans are way too hard on him. Not sure why.

Both are top tier players, but Marner is the better player. Marner is the full package... he plays on the Pk, PP, everywhere. He is elite defensively and offensively.

This year? Marner is out-pacing Rantanen this year.

Marner 1.24 p/gp

Rantanen 1.21 p/gp
I know. But you felt the need to specify how slight it was when Rantanen had a .03 PPG lead, but not when Marner has the same size lead.

I said it pre-draft, after he got drafted and I'll say it now. Marner is a 1st overall talent. He's the level of player teams hope to get when they're picking #1. 2nd best player of his draft class for me. I love Rantanen too, both are elite talents with completely different play styles but I'll take Marner.

Marner does produce more during the regular season. However, he also has clearly not been as solid as Rantanen when it all matters. Somehow this is always ignored by Leafs fans.

Playoffs
Marner 0.84 PPG
5G 16A 21TP 26 Games

Rantanen 1.18 PPG
13G 26A 39TP 33 Games

Because this year Marner has more points AND is out-pacing.

Whereas three years ago Marner had more points BUT Rantanen slightly out-paced him.

Big difference.

Not really. If you’re going to use PPG as a criteria then games played doesn’t matter as much as you’re making it out to be. You’re stressing reasons to make it seem like a bigger gap than it is

Everyone shits on Marner for playing in the North division cause the defense is so bad, so the same logic should apply to the playoffs: Marner's faced nothing but elite defensive teams in the playoffs, meanwhile Rantanen has played against Martin Jones and the Arizona Coyotes. Also I doubt Rantanen's ever played in the playoffs with a center as bad as 33 year old Tomas Plek

I never said a thing about how big the gaps were(except when Rantanen slightly out-paced in the season he got less points......Marner's 94 points could be deceiving otherwise.).

I only stated that Marner wins in 3 of he 5 p/gp metrics, and 4 of the 5 points stats.

Not sure what you'd like.
