Pretty close, really.

I’d say it was a bit of an off year for Rantanen as far as expectations for him go. He had a strong end to the playoffs with 11 points in 7 games against Dallas, so hopefully that carries over to next season. I think a legitimately healthy offseason will do him wonders.

Contracts aside it’s pretty close. Marner gets more points, Rantanen more goals. But Rantanen has been significantly better in the post season.

So I’d go Rantanen.

If we include contracts, I’d go Rantanen by a country mile.

No one wants to mention actual points?
I mean outside of Rants rookie season their production is pretty similar. Marner had the much better rookie season so that’s a plus for him, but in the last 3 seasons they’ve both average an 84pt pace over 82 games. So in the regular season they’re very comparable players. Than we get to the playoffs and Rantanen blows Marner away with a .34ppg lead over him. So I mean there’s the production between the two.

Just doesn't produce as much.

Last 3 seasons:
Rantanen 212 points in 197 games (1.08PPG)
Marner 230 points in 223 games (1.03PPG)

Last 3 years Rantanen on average has actually produced at a higher rate. Last season was the first season since 16-17 that Marner produced at a higher rate and that was largely due to Rantanen having an injury plagued season.

Not Marner.

Rantanen is better easily.
