They’re going to end up agreeing on a contract and everyone’s is going to say “ all this charade and time for that!”
Will be a fair deal for both sides I believe.

My vote is under. I think he signs in the life of this thread. Then again I said that for 10 and 11 too.Over/under the Marner threads reach part 24 by opening night.
id say over cuz after he signs that thread chain will have quite a few threads too.My vote is under. I think he signs in the life of this thread. Then again I said that for 10 and 11 too.
I would rather have Lou.I can assure you very few Leaf fans would rather have Lou as the GM over Dubas.
That is fine too. I wasn't counting thread chains, but you are right!id say over cuz after he signs that thread chain will have quite a few threads too.
Leafs fans sure as hell wish they still had Lou as GM right about now.
This would never fly on his watch.
Yeah he would just do fun things like sign Marleau and Zaitsev to boat anchor contracts.Leafs fans sure as hell wish they still had Lou as GM right about now.

Should have done that with Nylander, he's no lossNever hés gonna play there. Loll. Thats a negociation tactics. What will bring him to play in switzerland? Missing an oppotunity to clear one year of a contract here? If i am dubas i will tell you him. Okay, go play there and maybe you will trade before your 27 years old
I would rather have Lou.
Why train there already , it's not his norm ?I haven’t seen anything saying he wants to play there, just train.
He is a free agent. He is free to do what he wants. Switzerland is beautiful in September. It is out of the Toronto media blanket. Why train there already , it's not his norm ?

Ok but it's not his usual thing. Guess he doesn't plan on attending training camp.He is a free agent. He is free to do what he wants. Switzerland is beautiful in September. It is out of the Toronto media blanket.
Think Dubas will have to wait on Rantanen, Point, Tkachuk etc to sign and set the market. Marner wont have much of a case to get significantly more than Rantanen and Point...this in addition to the Aho deal.
he could do both ? who cares if hes staying in shape / getting ice time in . its better than doing nothingOk but it's not his usual thing. Guess he doesn't plan on attending training camp.
Not to mention Lou is partially to blame for Marner feeling like he has been shortchanged financially. Lou was tight with his rookie bonuses and soured relations, using that money to sign boat anchors that Dubas has spent the last year cleaning up.If Lou was still around, we would still have Komarov and Bozak instead of JT. How long we would also be waiting for him to get us some upgrades on D? Dubas already in 1 year on the job got us Barrie and Muzzin, while getting rid of Zaitsev.
Doesn't sound like a good guess to me. He could get on a plane the day he signs or even tomorrow if he wants. Europeans have no problem getting to training camp when they spend their summers in Europe. Just because Marner is not a European doesn't mean that he can't keep in shape and be ready.Ok but it's not his usual thing. Guess he doesn't plan on attending training camp.
Most logical people would
He does have leverage tho. Everyone knows that the deal has to be done before the season starts or shortly into the season. The leafs don’t have the cap space to sit on him for 2 months and then sign him.Marner and his agent are now understanding that they don't have the leverage they tought they would. Interesting

He does have some leverage, but if he doesn't sign he also has risks; he will not have protection in case of a lockout and might miss more of his prime outside of the NHL. It would suck for the Leafs too, of course. He does have leverage tho. Everyone knows that the deal has to be done before the season starts or shortly into the season.
