Mitch is really a lot of fun to follow on twitter, not big on that, but I have to say he rarely disappoints in terms of that whenever I have flipped around to see what those guys are saying. I don't fault him being frustrated, but just think it is unwise. Ferraro might not be having a great offensive year, but that might not be what he was told to work on, he did lead the Griffins in regular season goals last year and all of his comments on being called up were to focus on depth role see his Miller comments. Mitch very well could have been directed we would like to see better offensive output out of you, they get directives. Just because we are disappointed with Ferraro's drop in numbers doesn't mean the Wings haven't noticed the other parts of his game and thought that is what we wanted.
It is hard to say, really the fact they seem to be heading for a heads up competition is probably good for both guys. It raises the stakes this summer and in camp, if you believe healthy competition is good and I do, that shapes up to make both guys better in the long run, though for one it appears to be trending as with another organization. I personally take Ferraro, I like his skating and I do really enjoy his pk work though it was rough the first go round, I think he will grow from this. Callahan has come a long way to enter this fight and it is a tribute to what kind of worker he is. This isn't an all is lost situation, I will certainly be smiling if California Love blasts when he scores goals or if Ferraro wins out and we have his speed and big hits from time to time along with his high glove shot. Both are quite a ways behind Glendening though, his signing with the organization hurt both these guys in my opinion.
For the record the best PK guy on the Griffins the last two years is Riley Sheahan, he was better at that than Glendening, Andersson, Ferraro, and Callahan. Really frustrating we aren't using him in that role, I know they are probably worried about the minutes he would log and I am happy he landed a PP gig, but this could become an issue for me like Smith never getting PP time. Not playing Riley on the pk is incredibly stupid.
