What Fletcher can learn from TB is patience, TB missed the playoff 5 0f 6 seasons, Cooper showed up right after that, when they had a few veterans and some key young players just coming into their own:
St Louis (38), Filppula (29), Carle (29), Brewer (34)
Stamkos (23) #1, Killorn (24), Hedman (23) #2
Three year run including SC Finals, then missed the playoffs, CF finals, then swept last year. So not exactly instant success.
The key has been finding good players outside the 1st rd, that's been the TB edge:
Killorn #77 (2007), Palat #221 (2011), Kucherov #58 (2011), T Johnson UDFA (2011), Paquette #101 (2012), Guorde UDFA (2012), Point #79 (2014), Cirelli #72 (2015),

Yzerman wasn't an active trader, got a 1st for St Louis at the TDL, then got robbed by Hextall in the Coburn deal, Gudas, 1st and 3rd. Traded DeAngelo for a 2nd. Got Sergachev and a 2nd for Drouin. Cernak for Bishop.

you are forgetting that they focused on getting elite dman, shattenkirk, mcdonagh, bogosian with hedman. we need elite d with provy, all of these players on this team are average, we need elite d talent with provy.

Hes underrated across the league and widely overrated by this fanbase in general. Its a weird split.

we rewound time 10 years, thats all.

Provorov was 22 this season, most defensemen hit their peak at 23-24.
There's a certain impatience with fans, "why can't all our prospects be instant stars?"
Even someone as talented as MacKinnon needed 5 seasons to take it to the next level.
Hedman (#2) had a very good second season, then regressed before becoming a reliable #1 in his fifth season.

I feel like Provy isn’t as good as we make him out to be.

I wouldn't be too worried about one play. If you play defense in the NHL you're going to get posterized at some point. It's just an occupational hazard.

I feel like this is true for most teams/players/fanbases.
