That’s awful. Wish him a speedy recovery. He was quickly becoming one of my favourites and a key cog in the line up.

the only positive side is that he’ll likely re-sign with us next year

Absolutely brutal for the Soup man and the leafs. Wish him a speedy recovery. Feels like he was finally the one who was going to more or less secure that left side on the top 6 with Hyman being the other one (atleast while AJ was out). Now it’ll be a conundrum yet again.

Hyman-Matthews-Marner
Engvall?-JT-Nylander
Kerfoot-Spezza-Kappy?
Timashov-GOAT-Brooks?

Why are we suffering so many injuries this year :( He's been fantastic for us too, hopefully he makes a full recovery. Did not expect the injury to be that severe

Terrible news. Based on the early indications last night, it didn't appear this severe.

I think it was Grabovski who wore the ridiculously short gloves, and I was always afraid something like this would happen to him
I can't remember Grabovski wearing short gloves to be fair. I do know that Dermott wears pretty tiny gloves, you can see skin when he plays its pretty ridiculous

Agostino, Korshkov, Bracco, Aberg, could all be guys that get called up.

Can also depend on how far away Johnsson is, and how bad Moore’s concussion is.

I think Agostino can fill Mikheyev’s spot the best among the Marlies.
Moore’s concussed? I totally missed that :/

Shame for the kid, bad break for the team.

Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Putting the depth to the test.

This sucks a ton, Soup has been one of my favourite players this year.

I thought he made someone expendable in the top 9, guess that won’t be happening anytime soon unless another Marlie hops in.
Well, it could also mean that AJ is removed from any of the trade scenarios the Leafs might have been planning, no?

I know Brooks has been up and getting acclimated, but I'd much rather see the spot go to Agostino. He has a 2 year contract, brings sandpaper, and has as per usual been lighting it up in the AHL. Korshkov and Marchment would be my other picks, but we may want to keep a guy like Korshkov on the cheap for as long as we can and not bring him up too soon. Marchment is a guy who is a 4th line winger type in the NHL, and could be brought up and extended with the big club for league minimum type salary. I think the only reason Agostino hasn't been brought up is he'd have to clear waivers to go back down I believe and the Leafs know he'd be taken. If Mikheyev is done for the season, might be an opportunity to get Agostino in finally. Engvall also won't be going anywhere now

Scenario #1) If the injury was closer to his thumb ... it would be a radial artery and palmaris longus tendon injury.

Scenario #2) If the injury was closer to his fifth finger, it would be a ulnar artery and flexor digitorum superficialis tendon injury.

#3 would be be ulnar artery and the most medial tendon ... flexor carpi ulnaris tendon.

The multi month recovery time suggests flexor carpi.

. Sucks we lose another player just as we were starting to get healthy. One gets healthy and another two get injured this year.

This amount of injuries is probably more normal than abnormal. We've pretty lucky over the last few years really.

Was hoping it wasnt that bad.

Thats 3/4 of our LW out at the moment.

Engvall should be here to stay, and I would love to see Brooks/Marchmant/Korshkov all get a cup of coffee during this injury stint.

Please, please dont play Petan.

Would much rather see a marlie we developed get a shot with the big club. We saw how it worked out with Holl, Moore, and Engvall. They all came up and stuck as full-timers.

As far as Mikheyev, I wouldnt be against letting him recover for the year regardless of how far we go. Unless he makes a miraculous recovery it would be better for him to come back next season 100% then slide into late season/playoffs and have to get back into shape.

And for everyone talking about his next contract, that shouldnt be a concern right now. He is ok which is what matters.

Imagine you get seriously injured at your job and all everyone is talking about is "well at least we dont have to pay him as much".

If it happened in my job management would be looking to replace me and wondering whether I'd be able to return to my job or if they needed to replace me permanently.
They'd happily let the insurance company pay and not lose one moment of sleep.
It's just business.

As for his replacement, I'm guessing it will be Johnsson who can come off IR around the 31st.

Sucks but thank goodness it wasn’t worse. That’s some scary stuff.

Get better Mik! Hopefully he can come back for the playoffs if things go well....

Terrible, and hope he can come back at full health. But, when you hear cut artery (and saw the blood quite frankly), this could have been much worse. Glad the Toronto and NJD medical staff knew what to do.

So he may be back just before playoffs. That’s something at least but it’s still brutal. What shitty luck. Poor Mikheyev. Here’s to a speedy recovery.

Is he out for three months, or will be evaluated in three months? This is definitely bad news, but hopefully Ilya Mikheyev makes a full recovery and is back to what he was doing whenever he's ready to go.

Grabovski often had unprotected areas around his wrist. But it’s not as bad as I remember.

Dermott is/was bad for that as well
