Messier. I don't think it's that close either. Federov was also better than Yzerman in my view.

Very true. Messier was still a solid defensive player....but his play in his own end is getting greatly exaggerated. He definitely had benefits that Yzerman did not have until much later.

I think both guys get alot of street cred based on their reputations and they are after all easily among the top 25-45ish best forwards of all time.

Also haven't see you around for quite a while miss the debates.

Slightly off topic but it’s a real travesty that the leadership award was named after Messier, one of the dirtiest players in NHL history, when Yzerman would’ve been a significantly better choice, as he oozes class.
