Because people post his rumors so often that it made sense to give out a tag so that all of those Eklund rumor threads could be easily found?

I'm just guessing here. I'm not a moderator.

(though it was explained in this very thread)

It was confirmed by a moderator a while back that Eklund has a tag so that people can avoid his rumours if they don't want to read them. That way, every thread associated with Eklund isn't filled with people complaining about Eklund.

Not according to this.....of all 6 teams he was looking at, his salary after taxes is lowest with Toronto.
https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/tavares-calculator

This calculator only lists current nominal tax rates.

There are alot more creative ways for NHL players to pay less taxes in Canada then they would in the US by using legal loopholes. Using a trust is one of them...

Why on earth would Pacioretty sign now with the habs, knowing his GM is trying to trade.

That is, unless it comes with a pretty restrictive NTC.

Otherwise, makes no sense.
It can come with a list of teams which gives flexibility to both sides.

Well yeah, that’s why I specified the NTC part.

Problem is, we have no idea how long or short that list is.

But at the end of the day, it still makes no sense. Why would Pacioretty sign before the trade. There’s no benefit for him.

If he’s going to get a NTC, then he might as well just negotiate directly with the team trading for him before the trade.

Has he been traded yet. Can't find anything in this

nothing to report... starting to think he will start the year in Mtl which is really really bad and a complete f*** up by MB

"oh yea Max I tried trading you 3-4 times but failed miserably each time, now start the year in Mtl and I will try to trade you at the next deadline. And don't forget to have fun while knowing we don't want you back "

Ptches hasn't been a great player since Chara almost beheaded him. I wouldn't give Montreal any valuable assests for this corpse.

Okay relax there. 30+ goals 60+ points in 5 of the last 7 seasons... a lockout year where he was projecting the same numbers and one rough season on a bellow average team while he had an injury. Not to mention he's played his whole career with Cs that would barely qualify as a 3rd line C for any top 15 team.

I understand that at 29 and wanting an at least 8x8 contract is a bit worrisome but don't go around here telling me some bull sh*t about him being a corpse or a bad player cause that's just idiocy and shows a major lack of hockey knowledge on your part. This guys is one of the top LWs in the league and with a proper line he's scoring 40 goals and 70 points.

Fan or not, i'm sick of people just grinding on the "hate on Max Pacioretty" hype.

The NHL is big business, and the state of Montreal's franchise is painfully obvious. Pacioretty knows he's trade bait. He's also in a contract year, at age 30 and coming off a very bad year.

He will give it his all next season. If he doesn't, he's the only one that will suffer, as it will seriously decrease his next contract. Two bad years in a row, at age 30, is a tough sale on the market.

Guys, we've been pretty amenable up to this point, but if all you're going to do is slag on the source of the rumor, including jokes about how long it's taking, you risk a reply ban and an infraction. If you don't want to discuss the rumor itself, don't discuss it and let it fall off the first page on its own. Again, the Eklund tag is there for a reason - if you don't like his content it's a sign to ignore the thread.

It's underway mate, a question of minutes

At least sing Duclair MB, give us something.

Apparently, he's about to sign with Columbus.
...a bit strange that the news about Weber would come out on the same day Duclair finally reaches an agreement. Nothing to lose anymore, Marc ?
