FINALLY someone who is a Habs fan that see the light on Gallagher. Been saying that for years to my Wife (habs fan) and friends who are Habs fans. Never understood why they hated Eller so much. He was a perfect 3C for that team.
It wasn't habs fans that hated Eller.

Makes you wonder why anyone would help Vegas shed massive cap space in a pandemic. At $7 million for the next 3 years you're almost better off going straight for Steven Stamkos or Alex Pietrangelo yourself.

Despite his faults, he's better than any winger we have currently, that's for sure.
He would have been a monster player but he changed after the hit on Letang and the accidental broken neck injury he received from Chara. What's also remarkable is how he managed to score so many goals when centered by the mighty David Desharnais.:sarcasm:

The Caps and Lightning were chokers until they weren't.

Can't win with Kessel.

The thing is, the playoffs are just mostly flukey and random. There's no reliable way to say for sure that Pacioretty is a playoff dud.

Every player is a playoff dud until proven otherwise.

I'd take him back on the Habs, if it wasn't for his contract. He'd be needed now.
Suzuki, obviously, wouldn't go back the other way tho.

That "Two and a Half Men" line of Pacioretty-DD-Cole was something else. They may have been a one-hit wonder but damn was it fun while it lasted. 1st round prospect, former ECHLer who worked his way up, and a former Habs killer. What a story that was.

Never understood why MB traded Cole. He was a beast and Cole was pissed to leave too. Seems like MB doesn't like these type of heart and soul players like Cole and Radu.

It's funny how in retrospect Bergevin was right. He said there are players who get you to the playoffs and players who get you through the playoffs. Just a shame for the most part he tossed away the playoff heroes like Eller, Markov, Radulov and Subban for guys like Patches and Gallagher who never show up when it counts. Still funny to me every time the media hypes up Gally as the heart of the team despite him never making a difference in the playoffs.

Gallagher has 25 points in 49 games, several of which he played injured. That's roughly a 51% average. Eller, meanwhile has 45 points in 86 games which accounts to a 53% average. So... Eller's a playoff warrior because he scores 2% more than Gallagher all while spending half his career on a significantly better team? In terms of what they offer outside points, you're out of your mind if you think Gallagher is ever a passenger.

From afar, it seems less like Vegas has an actual plan or strategy, and instead is more interested in going after whoever is the current hot commodity and just hoping it all fits together at the end of the day.

No one said that about Zetterberg. Datsyuk maybe, but let’s not compare Pacioretty to friggin’ Datsyuk.
It absolutely was said about Zetterberg and Datsyuk. More so Datsyuk because he became a leader of the team earlier.

How? He had exactly one bad playoff at the age of 23 when he wasn’t even one of the Top 5 scorers on the team in the regular season. He was lights out after.

They were both called out after the losses to the underdog Flames and then the even bigger underdog Oilers. And they both had large roles on those teams.

Wow, I didn't see it your way, I really liked Eller and in saying that, how do you feel about Phil Danault?

miles better... Danault has legit offensive acumen. Not the flashiest guy but he doesn’t hinder anyone. he can keep up with high level offence, dish and receive the pick. With Eller his stick was where plays died. Zero offensive sense. He could score goals when he drove net hard with his big body but rarely did, mostly perimeter play and bad passes or low percentage shot.

Lol, watch back to the Habs cause he is literally what they need now an elite triggerman.

Let's not play the dog and eat our own vomit.

Radulov wanted to leave. Habs offered the same money that the Stars did and Rad went to the Stars ON HIS OWN.
Markov was at the end of his career. It was a business move.
Eller was never that good.

Bergevin offered that money much too late. By the time the Habs made their new bid Rads had already accepted Dallas' offer which ended up being identical. Berge misplayed his hand.
Markov was let go because GMMB wanted to change the energy of the Russians on our team after the post elimination "incident."
Eller was a great 3C.

Bleu, Blanc, Rouge. C'est moi! Bozo le clown!

Until the very first second he can get out.

Does he have value? Does he have other options? Is he going to free agency? All these questions have the same answer whhen talking about the habs.

Where's all this bitterness coming from buddy? Why hating on the Habs? Light up a bowl. Chill. I mean, did someone pee in your Corn Flakes or something bud?

Sorry but Eller sucked. Total black hole offensively, and overrated defensively. Never lived up to his contract.

Just so you know the Caps wouldn't have won their Cup without Eller.
