He's an upgrade over Malhotra, but isn't a huge loss with the depth the team has right now. Hopefully he can rest well and contribute when he returns.

Mitchell, Flynn and Malhotra wont be on the team next year.
MT doesnt know how to build a 4th line with a purpose.... it changes virtually every game.
He's just starting to realize 70 games into the season that Prust and Weise are 4th liners
idiot will forget that by training camp and the experiment will start all over again

We'll be fine -- we added depth guys at the trade-deadline to fill in for these kind of injuries!

I think Flynn and Mitchell could be guys they want to keep, decent size and speed plus they can chip in a few goals. Too bad Mitchell got hurt, but he'll have a couple weeks to get up to speed before playoffs.

Seriously Flynn and Mitchell bring nothing do this team. MB missed his chance at improving the team. Prust,Malhotra,Bournival,Weiss,Dumont can all do the job. The goal was to add a top 6 and he didn't do it. DSP will be relegated to the 4th line soon enough.

Mitchell is very good defensively and a good skater, one of the better #4 centers in the NHL. I liked Flynn in Buffalo, he hasn't found his grove here yet.

What's hard with new players like them and Petry is the Habs are playing every 2 days with no real practice time since the trade deadline. Harder for those guys to get reps in, easier to do stuff in games once you have practiced it.

Boyle cost 6 mil, Malhotra cost 870k, apples to oranges.

You mean 2 million per vs 850K per, because next year, it'll be someone else at 850K, and the year after will be the same. Boyle has the upper hand over Malhottra when we're talking talent but with DLR and Eller slotted as our 3rd line centers, 2 million would be a little too rich for a 4th line centerman...moral of this story, Boyle was not in Montreal's plans

Flynn is an RFA. He might stick around.

A 3 year deal is a big difference from a 1 year 850k contract. In the NHL term matters as much as cap hit.

I don't see why the rush to write players off after 5 and 6 games, they are still getting used to the team, systems and teammates.

The difference of quality of player between Maholtra and Boyle is apples to oranges,

but their salary isn't. Term matters but what does it matter since Bergevin will

have to sign someone to replace Maholtra or a kid will come up to take Maholtra's

spot next season anyways and it's ot like Boyle wil regress in the next 3 years . I'll take a 6'7'' 245 pounds guy that can score 15

goals on a 3rd line over any player that will come up and play on Montreals bottom

6 even if he costs 1M less. Boyle is the kind of guy every team wants on their bottom

6 and 2M/Per for 3 years is peanut for this guy.

I'm sure that MB checked around for some top 6 scoring. Seeing as how he didn't pick up anyone that met the description, I'm sure that he felt like the price was too steep.
