By morbid curiosity, I went to visit the old thread of the Domi/Chucky trade. Man, some people are looking bad right now, I didn't realize how hockey experts were angry at the trade.

On paper it was a bad trade but at least I had hope with Domi being a young player.

I look pretty awful.

It's ok to be wrong sometimes.

OK, are you willing to take the bet then?

Will either of Domi or Drouin, outproduce Galchenyuk this year in points/per/game, assuming that both Galchenyuk and at least one of Domi or Drouin play 60+ games?

Loser has to write a ~500-word essay discussing and exploring why he was wrong."

Remember this gem? It's ok I won't make you write it

I came to comment on just how amazing this trade looks so far. It's one of the times where a change in scenery really seems to have helped a talented player who is underperforming. It was a gamble and we need to give MB credit for making the move.

Ummm, I took that bet with one other person before the season started.

And don't be a smartass, it was up there for several days and only one person had the courage to take the bet.

I don't think it's courage, it's madness. Who wants to take hours to write a 500 words essays on a hockey forum for... nothing?

Edit: Hyperbole. No need to quote me again. We know yall write 500 words essays in minutes.

Do you like to argue for the sake of arguing?

It takes minutes, not hours, to write 500 words. People didn't take the bet because they were afraid of losing, that's all, though obviously many were not participating in that thread at that moment in time.

I'm sure that the hindsight specialists will now claim that everybody knew that Domi would be the better player, but that is not correct.

I didn't even argue. Even when you proposed the bet after I posted something not even directed at you, I didn't argue. I just didn't think Galchenyuk was good, certainly not good enough to lead an anemic Arizona offense so I took the bet for fun.

Anyways, just having a little laugh. Sorry if it upset you. I really don't care or expect you to write an essay.

Your post was rude.

Btw you're not making me do anything. Unless I'm banned or otherwise unavailable, I'll post the essay around the end of the regular season.

I'm perfectly happy to write it. Acknowledging one's errors is a great way to learn.
It wasn't meant to be rude. Sorry if you interpreted it that way. It wasn't my intention to come off that way

""But none of that changes the fact that Domi has proven in 35 games — managing 14 goals and 19 assists — what Galchenyuk couldn’t prove in his six seasons with the Canadiens.""

That's dumb and completely disregards Chucky was ppg on over 60 games at center in Montreal. Engels has selective memory.

Assinine historical revisionism.

I really don't like the timing of this article while Domi's slumping. Just screams jinx to me lol. Saw the first two periods of last night's game. I thought Domi played well enough. Not up to the beginning season standards but I still saw good things. If this is the worst he plays when he slumps, I'll be happy with this trade big time.

I think he could've been a bit clearer on that point but the thing is he was also almost a PPG in AZ at C and they still moved him. Stats aside, Domi's acquitting himself much better at C than Galch ever did. He just looks more a natural fit there. Who knows Domi could keep falling and Galch could really find his groove in AZ. Patches seems to be doing that in LV. In the first chunk of the season though, Domi looked better than Galch ever did at C. No question.

That's not true. You too have selective memory.

It's not much different from the Chucky we saw between February and November 2016. No injury and 20 more games and Chucky might've been close to ppg on a whole season lenght, not just 35 games.

I like Domi. In fact I like him more than Chucky, but this revisionism is just ridiculous and reeks recency bias.

Is that the Radulov year? Kind of confused. From Feb 2015- Nov 2016? Is that when he scored 30 goals then played with Radulov? If that's what you're talking about I still give the nod to Domi.

I've never seen Galch drive the play like Domi has. It's besides the points. Zone entries, tenacity on the puck, passing, effort levels. Plus the speed is a huge huge plus. He's created so many 2 on 1s with his speed.

He might be marginally less skilled than Galch (which is debatable) but the skating, effort and the other little things I mentioned are so prevalent in Domi that I've never seen in Galch. To me it's night and day. But again, players get hot with a new team and he's traditionally a hot starter so we'll see. We could still lose this trade but I've personally never seen Galchenyuk play this well all around.
