Are we really going into another season with Gryz on the top pair? He seems fine in the regular season. It would be one thing if it was a subset of fans that complain about him being too small and soft for the playoffs but the coach and organization doesn’t trust him to be out there when it counts.

Besides #1 center this is the most glaring hole on the team.
I was listening to the WEEI Bruins podcast a week or two ago and they said they heard a rumor that Gryz was being shopped on the second day of the draft. I would think they’d want to acquire another LD if they trade him. With Lohrei probably a year or two away I can’t see them extending Gryz so I would hope they do it now and get something for him.

I think they finally realize what a flawed player he is. That’s why the boatload of assets were shed out for left shot defensemen the last two deadlines. They don’t want to give him away but I think something gives and they move him at the very least by the deadline.

I’ll never understand why they didn’t staple Orlov and McAvoy together until they figured it out as soon as Orlov arrived.

Almost 4 million for a soft undersized dman with little offensive game and no special teams time is just not a good fit on this club. He’s a decent player but there’s a reason he’s getting sit for guys like Clifton and Forbort in the POs. Bad contract by Sweeney and I’m no hater.

I really wish they would slot him back onto the bottom pairing, he had his best playoff playing there with Clifton.

Happy Birthday to the 2024 HF Bruins Board: Whipping Boy Award winner..

edit: It was tough competition this year, and I thought Danton Heinen was gonna take the title. But Grizz managed to pull off the minor upset.

He joins a distinguished list that includes: Jake DeBrusk, Charlie Coyle, Nick Foligno and Brandon Carlo

Surely something is up with Gryz this year right? He's never been a points guy but only one more point than Forbort in 5 more games is pretty surprising.

I've wanted him gone for about three years now. The whole " Dad is the ice team leader" and local boy narrative is dead and gone. He's not good defensively, and his offense has dwindled away.

PLEASE let this be the deadline where we move on from him. undersized PMD that cant take the body or fight in front of the net is getting old.

He is consistently giving up inside ice; opponents getting behind him; he gets blown up on heavy forechecks. I know this is just the "eye test" but it's been pretty obvious to these eyes this year. If he's not cleanly transitioning the puck up quickly, he's not a useful player, at least not this year.

Hell baby
Yeah he’s clearly fallen off a considerable amount this season. Avoiding the majority of contact and it’s causing him to rush. Transition game hasn’t been as effective.

There will be some desperate teams with injuries or needs at the trade deadline. This is the time the Bruins need to sell off some assets and get a few good draft picks back. This is not a Stanley Cup team and take your lumps with some of the rookies.

The Vegas game was Grizz's best of the season, by far. And while I agree the B's need to start accumulating draft picks, they won't be sellers at the deadline, they certainly won't be selling off defensemen, and if they did try to flip Grizz they wouldn't get much since he isn't perceived as a playoff-style depth player.
